Moori Tips, whats happened?

Keeping perfect Tip shape is 1,2,3

I always spin my shafts to clean,and lightly burnish the tip - I think the only way to shape tips is spinning them. All it takes is a cordless drill and a pin for your shaft. 80-120 sand Paper and your fingers. A fool can do this on the tailgate ,or trunk of the car. You get a tip that is shaped nickel,dime ,quarter- All this glazed stuff is for the birds- Remember pred ferrules are plastic and cannot take the heat. Every shaft for every cue is done the same way. I have an electric hammer drill in the garage with -wooden rails like a lathe ,does exactly the same thing ,cleans shafts shapes tips. Simple!! I use the butchers wax and Magic Eraser with Alcohol. How can this be so hard for some people? I never have to play with a blued shaft!! mark

i was always taught to leave the shafts dirty. why hide all the hard work you put into getting it that way. i've noticed a lot of players from japan do it that way. it adds character to the cue imo

You haven't met some of the fools I have. I've known people I wouldn't want to be in the same parking lot with while they were trying to do anything mechanical.
 
I like all the accessories squeaky clean too

I suppose you guys like the table with chalk all over it , spilled drink marks- so the cue ball never rolls straight. Who needs to clean the balls- (unless you like blue balls) lol. Kind of like which way does the chalk go on the rail- Tap,yap tap. I know my cues will be worth more in better condition,I play better with a cue that looks brand New(all waxed and shinny) I spend too much money collecting cues ,and to keep the value I clean them. I do the same with my New Toyota Forerunner,and GMC pick up. I even replaced the headliner in the gmc- because too much Cigar smoke smell! And it was the same for the Hottie(Squeaky) at the pool hall- cleaned her up too- before waxing. Have a great day fellas. mark

I won't install them anymore even when customers bring them in. The old "had a bad batch of glue" line does not cut it. How big was that batch of glue anyway? I just had too many delaminate in the first hour of play to deal with them anymore.
 
I used to swear by Moori's but the last bunch have been awful, the medium I put on my own cue is like concrete. What is the next best alternative for consistency and grip ( not Kamui blacks)

Best replacement i have found is a Moori Soft, if its to soft just take an extra layer of leather off the top but i have found new Moori soft play more like old Mediums.

The only other Tip i would try is a Kamui Brown II (Soft) (the softest one they do) but i think it will be a bit harder than an old Moori medium.
 
Mori tips

I have about 10 approx 8-9 year old med tips that I'm don't use if someone wants to make me an offer.
 
I'm surprised no one mentioned the Everest tip. It's a great tip and would be the tip I'd choose if I didn't think the Sniper was even better. The Everest tip plays as close to a good Triangle as anything I've seen, which is saying a lot.

That said, the Sniper is unbelievable. After the break-in period, it firms up and it does everything I could possibly ask of a tip. I have Sniper tips on all my regular players.
 
I'll second you on the Everest. They are good sellers. Haven't installed any Snipers for customers but I've had them on my cues. I have one left and the next time I need to replace, it will be the Sniper. I think I'll order a hand full to.

I just play with what works the best. My game took a little step up with the La pro. But the tip has to be put on correctly so you don't tear the structure of the leather so it doesn't break down and sqwash out too quick.

After about 3 weeks you should put on another one. Just like all the other tips, even layered tips they get compacted and lose alot of their bounce.

I'm back to a La Pro. If you put them on right they all play good.

Are you serious? If so, I don't get it. Who wants a tip that has to be replaced every three weeks? Even if I had my own lathe that would become a pain in the arse pretty quickly. :confused:
 
I soak elk masters in real mothers milk for 3 days .....then I dry them under the rotting carcass of an armadillo.......best tips I have ever used:thumbup:

now that's what i'm saying. i've had talismans and moori tips last well over a year. i've had one talisman hard tip last over 2 years
 
If you guy's realy like the old moori mediums, try the tiger Emerald. It's a true Medium tip. Onyx, I didn't like the feel of those tips, but I haven't had one on my cue yet.

Onyx is the Best and then Sniper which I play for many Years:thumbup:
