Making Balls in 10-ball with Magic Rack?

I make a lot more balls on the break in 9-ball with the Magic Rack than I due w/o it.
I seem to make a ball or two on the break more in 10-ball w/o the MR than I due with it.
Anyone else getting this. I play on a BB if you think that matters on the break. Johnnyt

I don't find myself making 3-4 balls on the break in either game, but I do find (on a shimmed GCII) that I make balls more consistently with the magic rack in both games. In 9-ball, the wing ball almost never misses at 18-20MPH from about 8" off the side rail, and the 1-ball will often go in the side with the same break.

In 10-ball, breaking about 25MPH and 6"-8" from the center, I usually make one of the balls behind the 1-ball in the side pocket, sometimes both of them. Then there's the one wing ball that will occasionally go 4 rails.

Prior to the magic rack, I was probably only 60-70% on making the wing ball in 9-ball, and felt lucky to get even 1 ball to drop in 10-ball.

Most likely that I can't break over 20 mph for too many racks w/o not being able to move the next day is the reason i'm not doing well with the break in 10-ball. I have no problem making balls in 9-ball as I use a med-soft break. Thank you. Johnnyt

I make more with the MR for both 9 and 10 ball. Johnny, I'm surprised to hear you make less in 10 ball with the MR. That does not compute for me!

As an aside, aside from making row 2 in the side, and the wing balls going 4 rails, I sometimes make the one ball in the side opposite of the side I break from.

I think maybe a BB, tight pockets, Ridgeback Rails, and 70 yo has something to do with it.:frown:. Johnnyt

What are you comparing the MR against? Delta 13? Maybe you have good balls and table for a conventional tight rack?

Yeah Johnny, I think those rails/cushions would need replacing after 70 years. Rubber tends to petrify after far less time. :D

J/K!

Nevermind.:sorry: I had put a spot back on because I was using the Delta for 8-ball, Fargo, and 14.1. Once I took the spot back off I started making more balls on the break in 10-ball with the MR. Funny, 9-ball MR seens to play the same with or w/o spot on table. Johnnyt

I chuckle at how you tend to over-analyse things. Take up fishing, it's less stressful.

That's funny. My wife says I over analyse everything everyone says since my stroke. As far as fishing, I grew up on Long Island. I lived right on the water. I could cast off my back porch. I haven't fished in 30 years...hate it. Johnnyt

With a very good set of balls (new or haven't been used enough to wear down) and broke-in Simonis while using the Magic Rack, I have seen the 9 ball be made in the break end of the table more often than in the rack end corner pockets. Nine stays in the middle of the rack, ball spread out and come back and hit the 9 into one of the two break end corner pockets.

Cue ball just a half ball off center spot either side. Break speed is not as important as it is hitting the ONE ball FULL.

Ineresting. I'll have to try it. Johnnyt

Some time ago, Mike Massey developed these "trick shot templates" so that balls could be set up repeatedly in a certain way so that a trick shot could be made.

My question: Is there a difference between Massey's "Trick Shot Templates" and the Magic Rack?

M.B.R. making balls on the break in 9 & 10 ball

Exactly K.K.N.L. !
And the reason some are making balls with a non-MBR rack in 10 ball IS the sloppy loose rack that REALLY spreads the balls in a random fashion (even more IF hit hard!).
