Measle Cue Ball on a Bar Box

Is there a Measle cue available for Bar Box coin op tables? I'm concerned about a Measle ball not dropping after a scratch. We have Diamonds and Valleys in my area.

No, there is not. I believe the Diamond coin op tables are designed to detect a red circle cue ball. I'm sure Glenn will chime in on that one.

I use my measles cue ball in the coin-ops all the time.

Just don't scratch lol.

If you do happen to scratch, you're just stuck using the bowling/cue ball until the game's over, upon which you get your ball back when you rack the next one.

I think all recent Diamond have an optical cue ball detection system and should work with the spotted cue ball. Why not just try it?

The measle ball will return on the 2 Diamonds that I know.
...but not on the Valleys

I think I will take the advice to "just try it" and I'll let you guys know what happens.
Thanks!

What is the attraction of the measleball?

Why show your action on the cueball? It seems to me to be an answer to a question not asked.

Years ago , my pool mentor told me "don't show your whole game on the practice table" .
The measles do exactly that :D
That's why I love to watch these guys play with them !

I wouldn,t call it a scientific test since I only made one attempt one one Diamond table but.......the measle cue ball did not come down to the cue ball return. Looks like we have to stick with Whitey for league play.
To answer Mike The Bike, we don't have many STRONG shooters in our Bar League so we felt it might be a bit of a learning tool for a lot of our players and maybe something a little different for everyone to experience. I personally love watching the pros using the measle. It,s fun to watch a good match and the Measle ball seems to enhance my interest in a good match.

Heck do what we do for leagues, Open the table. We do not use quarters to play in our local leagues. Most teams use a regular Aramith cue ball. Just pick it off the rail and have at it.

When using a cue ball on a Diamond bar table, the cue ball has to have at least a minimum optical density reading in order for the cue ball separator to know it's a cue ball rolling though it...in order to kick it off and return it as a cue ball. Most all of the measle cue balls have a density reading to low to separate them from the object balls...so, they go down as an object ball;) same as any other cue ball that don't have a high enough density reading to tell the sensor that it's a cue ball and not an object ball;)

That would be great but most of the tables in our league are not owned by the Bars. They don't get a key to the table from the distributor so it really isn't an option.

Neither are ours for the most part. The bars have keys. Maybe it's a Central PA thing. Maybe the table owners are afraid of falling down a BIG hole in the ground:eek:.

oops

In an earlier post I said the measle ball would come back on a diamond.
When I tried it the balls were brand new and they came back.

Now that the measles are used, they won't come back.

Rub the measels off of it.

Try cleaning it. The red circle will mess up if dirty also.
