What is it?

The Slug-Doctor (TM) Tight Rack System is a setup tool kit that transforms your pool table's racking area to give you the tightest racks possible. Rest assured that all of the billiard balls will be frozen/touching before being blasted open by your break.

The Slug-Doctor (TM) Tight Rack System includes the following:
  • the SD-910 template (for 9-ball & 10-ball only)
  • the SD-DAT dot applicator tool
  • clear ultra-thin Dot Reinforcement Labels (roll of 200)

How Does It Work?

Ultra-thin dot reinforcement labels are specifically positioned in the racking area so that the pool balls are forced to lean up against each other during the racking process. Labels are only 0.0025 inches (0.06mm) thick!

By using the SD-910 template in conjunction with the SD-DAT dot applicator tool, the user is able to precisely position the dot labels at exact locations to enable the system to work. Set up as many times as you want. This is NOT a one-time use product!


Setup is easy as 1-2-3.
Simply brush the racking area clean, position the SD-910 template securely and, one-at-a-time, apply the dot labels using the dot applicator tool. Remove the template, press down on the dots, and you're ready to go.

I'm gonna use the Slug-Doctor when I set up my GCI. This racking system really works and it stays on the table. Nothing to pick up and it blends into the table. You barely even notice the stickers.
 
Abe, good luck with the new product. I played in a tournament using the Slug Doctor and can tell you it flat out works. Very, very discreet system that eliminates the occasional foul/fumbling when removing the rack after the break or having balls come to rest on the rack.

The system is very cost effective for room owners and tournament directors because you only have to buy one and can set up as many tables as you want. Wait a minute, I lied. After you go through 200 dots you will have to go to any office supply store and spend a couple of bucks for 200 more. ;) And it is certain to speed up tournament play because there should be less arguing/inspection of the rack. From the chair the opponent can visibly see the balls fall into place against each other.

For home use I like the versatility because you can remove the system should you feel like it if you are playing only one hole or straight pool for a while, then easily put it back on when you go back to 9 Ball.

Hi TheBook- Initially, I was not sure how much of an effect the dots were going to have with regards to playability. So when I designed my prototype template I felt that 9-ball and 10-ball would be the best application for it because of the lower probability of having clusters of balls in the racking area (compared to 8-ball/14.1/1p). Since then, I have realized that the dots really have minimal effect on altering balls as they are slow moving. An 8-ball version may be available in the near future.

However, another AZB'er (Underclocked) made a great suggestion and I am going to test it out tonight. So even with the current template, we may be able to use it for all 15 balls. See below for Underclocked's post in the main forum thread.

It isn't like you would be doing this often (hopefully).

I thought of that also but wondered what the reason was for not doing the whole rack initially.

It looks like a great product. Am thinking that a way to speed up the racking process for those that think placing one ball at a time would be to use a rack along with those holes.

Monday bump.

"My Slug Doctor arrived yesterday and I took it to the pool hall last night to try it out. The "donuts" installed quickly and easily, as advertised, and the pool hall owner had no problem with me setting it up on his table because it's obvious that they come off without hassle (in fact, we took it off after our match - took maybe fifteen seconds).
