Straight grained Tulip-wood, love it and know it plays well. I was turning some in the shop today, sweet aroma!

Cool cue, l love the wrap color. When I was trimming trees the smell of tulip-wood reminded me of black pepper, but I don't know if the ones around here are the same variety as the ones used in cues.
I think most of those are the Japanese variety, but I could be wrong. The Tulip-wood used in cues comes from Brazil, it's in the water down there.
It is a shame that people have been brainwashed into thinking that shafts have to be bright white to play good.
