recover "sticky"

You run a pool room and do your own tables so I'm sure you're qualified and have the time to write up detailed recovering directions along with a few dozen illustrative pictures.

Thanks for your confidence, I apologize if my comments offended you!!

Nice post

Now my comments above were not directed at everyone who posted to this thread, but for those who do take offense I must have hit the mark, and in the future maybe they need to take a little time and think before they post. These forums at least in my opinion are here to help others and I for one do so when ever I can. The forums are not here for self glorification and a mightier than thou attitude serves no one. Help can be as simple as posting a link to or showing some one how to use the archive to find what they are looking for, and treating others with a little respect may be as simple as not posting at all, I hope everyone can understand what I am trying to say.

Craig nice post I agree.... This place gets a little unfriendly too often.

Well, i have the notion, and the will to do it, that's why i'm doing it. I'm sure i can figure it out, with, or without instructions. It's not like it's some ancient chinese secret, afterall. If it is, some one needs to send a ninja assasin after these guys........

I'm also gonna be replacing the rubber with some cushions i salvaged from a 8 ftr., and will be making it the toughest playin lil table in town;) I bet some of you are finding it hard not to fall out of your chairs right about now, but we'll see who laughs last......

I. Kaye table on CL= $75
worsted blue cloth= $90
redoing it myself= priceless:)

Thanks for your confidence, ...

You're welcome.
Looking forward to your recovering instructions - if and when you have the time to do it. :D

Since there's more to a good job then simply slapping on new cloth the directions should include -
Covering bar table rails
Covering standard table rails
Gluing cloth on slate
Stapling cloth on slate
Leveling 1 piece bar table and 3 piece standard table slate
Fixing slate seams
Table/slate leveling
Cleaning/adjusting bar table ball return systems
Checking/replacing cushions and facings

Thousands of people do their own table. The web is rich with table recovering information and videos - for free. If you run into a problem start a thread, ask a question and post some pics and you will get help here. To ask for a complete recovering sticky tho is way above and beyond the time most mechanics have to devote to this forum. Good luck with your table and let us know how it works out.

You want to make sure that the cushions from the 8ft table are the same profile as on the Irving Kaye table. If they aren't, you'll have really funny things happen on the rails.

Sticky

There is a lot of info up here some of the most helpful info you might find by organizing by number of views. Just go to Talk to a Mechanic and go to top right then click "views". In an electronics forum I am a member of they have a sticky where all of the most helpful threads are referenced. often times I can just go there and find info pretty easy. There are certainly some key threads threads that could be put into that one sticky. Just a suggestion I am not a table mechanic.....

table

Would one of you pro installers please make us a how to "sticky" on recovering 1 piece, and 3 piece tables, and maybe even installing new cushions? I'm sure i'm one of many who would appreciate it. Thanks.

While I respect what a good mechanic can do and I agree that there is more to it than just throwing things on a frame, this sub forum is here to help non-mechanics who have questions and that is the main purpose it was designed for. Not to ridicule a new member because they ask questions of try to share an idea, I think it is important to remember this and act according or maybe not to post at all, everyone deserves that simple respect even our resident pre-Madonna's!!!

I'm with you on this, you shouldn't get roasted for asking a question, no matter how inappropriate it might seem to a "professional" mechanic.
Isn't that what this forum is for?
By the way, I'm not a mechanic, but a potential customer, trying to learn a little, so I can be an educated customer.

And exactly what happens here.
No specific question was asked in this thread but I'll throw a point your way since the first few responses could have
been less of a joke and more targeted to directing OP to other available information resources.

Thanks for your consideration!!

welp, a definate hack job, but at least it does'nt look like it was used as a workbench for the past 20 years. I'll be getting new rails made for it (covered) ;) in the near future...
I will gladly pay to have it done right next time, lol. Dang notions, lol.....I still think that a site such as this should have instructions for stuff like this tho, and that people should be encouraged for even being willing to take on a project of this magnitude. Even with awesome instructions, most would'nt want to do this more than once anyways.......

The more responses I read from Craig makes me respect his opinions more. He's a very knowledgeable guy with a very good attitude - and he's willing to share his knowledge and offer advice freely. I've learned a lot since I joined this forum, all of it from guys just like Craig. My hat is off to you sir.

I second that, Craig's a great guy. I always look forward to his imput in a thread wether it be about a cue i.d. or something else. His posts are knowledgeable, and humble. Keep up the good work Craig:thumbup:

Merry Christmas to all, and happy birthday Jesus!!

Thanks, you're too kind i'm sure, lol. The cloth is Mali's "Vestra" in euro-blue.
"Molly" my half english/american bulldog was probably wanting out to terrorize the kittie's in the neighborhood.

Good cloth. 3+ years on this forum this is the first time someone has mentioned Mali Vestra (besides me, LOL). Most folks have never heard of it and it's not a standard billiard store item - care to share where you got it?

I got it on ebay. I heard it was 100% worsted like Simonis used to be and that was good enough for me, especially at half the cost.

Now I'll post in reguards to your original question. I just finished recording the 2 DVD set for Simonis on how to install your own bed cloth, and how to recover your rails. They'll be available for distribution later in Jan 2012...contact Felice at Simonis and place your order, $29.95 each, + s/h.
