When I was in grade school, we played each other in sports and also played the Junior High. I made first team baseball as a 4th and 5th grader as a catcher, and I was just a little shit, but I was the only one who could hold onto the ball that a 6' 6th grader could throw.

Always made 1st team in baseball all the way up through High School.

In the 7th grade, and only being 4'6 1/2", and 70 lbs, 112 guys went out for the basketball team with 12 on the final team, and I made the team.

2nd fastest rope climb in the history of the High School.

In the Navy in Bremerton, Wa., offbase with a couple in the basement of the house, no pay for months, down to last $5, went into a popular bar there, ordered a draft, started playing 8 ball for $1 a game, ended up winning over $650 before done. Bought over $150 in groceries for the couple (with 4 month old baby) and me, diapers, milk, steaks, etc.., back in late 60's.

Survived 3 tours of Viet Nam in the Navy.

Got my A.A. and B.B.A. degrees, went to technical school after college, and graduated with honors and tutor status.

Playing on a church softball league, never had hit a home run before and hit 4 home runs in one game.

Developed Direct deposit software for Learjet in the 70's. They were the 2nd corporation to have direct deposit in the state of Kansas. They called it "Sure Pay".

Developed a Costed Bill of Material (up to 9 different levels including phantom parts) that could be requested for 1 part to a whole airplane and printed anywhere in the company for Learjet. It would completely cost out the airplane including manufactured and purchased parts. No other company in Wichita had done this, including Boeing, Cessna, and Raytheon.

Placed 9th (9,10,11, and 12th were assigned) in the Valley International Tournament in 8 ball in Vegas at the Riv (over 1,000 players). Team placed 16th one year and 32nd another year.

Ran 11 straight racks of 9 ball from the break playing for $100 a game.

Having a hard time with the half court ones. I know that you did it, but I don't really know to view that as an achievement.

The others, even the shots are impressive.

I woke up this morning. At my age, I think of it as an accomplishment...:D

At age 12, I once threw 1-->20+bull doubles in rotation with darts. (Only once for me, and only 1-16 in triples) I sure suck at it now...:frown:

Many things are better left unspoken. like maybe my half court story and your reply.

We should have made the rule that you had to list one thing that wasn't true and the group would have to guess which one it was.

I'll start. Newstroke you da man! To all our servicemen,,,,Thank You. And to all who answered in this thread Ya done good.

As for me I won a Maryland state championship in International air pistol. I'm from PA! And I did it with a 175$ Daisey air pistol(shooting against 1200 to 1500 hand made imported Olympic level guns!). I've benn shooting pool since January of 10(this year). I won a Vegas pre-qualifier in 8 ball. And have 1 break and run in 8 ball.

Aside from that surviving 32 years as a line mechanic in car dealerships. And the previous poster with the RA. I know how you feel!

I don't understand your comment. I was praising your efforts, I just didn't know if the half court shots could be on par with the other achievements you listed or others listed. When I say on par, I mean of the same type, if you said you had the highest number of 3pt ers in a game or something like that I could understand, or made a full court lob shot in a game. It just seemed like there was no category for I made 4 half court shots in a row.

~Finished 13th in the 2002 US Open, was my first time there.

~Won a Florida Pro Tour Stop 6 months after a spinal cord injury, took 7 months to walk 100% though.

~While in the ICU for the spinal cord injury I kept a nurse from quitting her job, she was planning to quit that day but tore up her letter of intent.

~Just beat a prescription pill problem stemming from the spinal cord injury, no rehab just staying home for a week and toughing it out.

Bragger?

I triple dipped my opponent in the finals of a state 8 ball tournament to win my first-ever pool tournament.

Since there aren't many triple elimination tourneys, I thought maybe this would be a candidate for the thread. :o

Triple Dipper Trigger they called me for a few months. :)

To top it off, my goal was to win a tournament in my 30s, and I finally accomplished that with that win. And THAT weekend was my Birthday weekend, also.

Besides all that, I graduated with a degree in meteorology from Texas A&M.

What was your prescription pill problem.

What was your spinal surgery. I had started a few threads about playing pool and back surgery, but didn't get hardly any posts.

WTF! You mean you met Jay H. and lived to talk about it. :D
By the way, I'm very impressed with four half court shots. I've made one in a row a lot of times, but never two. From 20' in high school, no one could beat me. It was like shooting free throws for me. I shot around 65-75% from that range in amateur B-Ball. It wasn't unusual for me to make four or five in a row, until they started guarding me closer. I suffered from short man's disease though (5'7"). I never got a chance to play varsity ball, even though I grew up playing with guys who were on the team, some of who I could run circles around. No one ever took the ball away from me when I had to take it down court. I could dribble two to three inches off the ground with ease (with either hand). I loved basketball. I just needed taller parents! ;)

You got horse action sir!:D

I knocked out a bear with my bare hands and used his fur to make a new robe. Taking orders of other robes as well.

Thanks Tim, but I'm about 20 years out of stroke. Tell you what I will do though. I will bet you that I can dribble the ball closer to the ground and for a longer period of time than you. In fact, I will bet that I can still dribble less than two inches off the ground for one minute! Not as easy as it sounds. I'll also bet on one inch off the ground for thirty seconds. Try that one sometime. The pros can't do that. Now go practice and get back to me. I'll expect to hear from you in about a week or two.
P.S. I might even bet on a half inch if the odds are right. I guarantee you I'm the only one who does that. At least I've never met anyone else who could do it yet. And that includes some college level ball players. HELLO!
