Let's bombard ESPN with complaints

My cable system doesn't get ESPN Classic, so I'm stuck with the other two. The NFL season is the only time I ever see pool on the tube. And today's schedule, as posted on AZ's front page, looked very tasty.

And so what do we get? Ninety minutes of friggin' trick shots, with all the usual suspects. I really couldn't care less about these freak shows, and that will be in my e-mail. Sorry Mike Massey, I know you're a talented player too, but I like pool, not ego shots.

I'd urge all similarly-minded AZers to do likewise.

Here's what I tuned in for:

2010 WPBA Tour Championship
2:30PM 01-16-2011
ESPN

2010 WPBA Tour Championship
3:30PM 01-16-2011

Cancel your cable and use that extra money to support Accu-Stats and TAR. Support the people who support pool.

Good luck with your crusade.

Anything pool-related on TV is better than nothing, IMHO. Would I rather see a match, instead of trick-shots, yeah. But trick-shots are better than having bowling on, for me anyway.

(And da Bears are killing the 'hawks, so what else are we gonna watch?)

It is kinda fun watching Dr.Cue jumping around like a kid when they make one of their shots...

Don't worry, the WPBA got bumped to next week. The trick shots got bumped from last week because ESPN decided to go with some BCS programming.

Maybe ESPN will show your bet with Larry? That would of been interesting if you would of honored it.

ESPN blows period, they just show highlite reels of what ever they are covering, in poker its either a all-in hand or a big laydown. In pool its only the Braeak and runs, etc. Its a shit network period. Sky Sports and EuroSport are great its a shame we dont have them here, if we did you wouldnt even remember ESPN.

Good Gawd, now they've got a freaking soccer ball on the pool table. Any real room I've ever entered would throw you out for that -- and maybe break your thumbs on the way out the door.

I don't think there is much in the way of pro mens events being taped anyways. ESPN doesn't really have much in the archive to pull from.

Trick Shots suck, but there isn't much else being taped.

Nope ... I want nobody but NBP to pay NBP's debt.

Money won is twice as sweet as money earned.

Hearing a woofer choke is almost as sweet.

I imagine that if you paid them what you owed them for what you want they would provide it.

I saw the TV guide listing for ESPN2 and it said Billiards so I thought i'd watch the pitiful coverage, but like some said it's better than nothing. When I tuned in it was "trick shots" and I changed the channel quickly. Trick shots are not for me and I have absolutely no interest in them. It's a shame that the US TV networks don't care about pool when other countries around the world broadcast pool in prime time. I don't get it.......

It's not really that the networks don't care about pool. The networks don't care what they are airing as long as it is making money. If the American Public watched pool on TV and advertisers paid for ad time within the show, networks would air it. It really is that simple. What brings in the money gets put on air. I work in TV by the way.

Why do you think there are so many reality shows on TV. It is cheap to produce, the American Public watches it, so advertisers buy time in the show, and the network makes a ton of money.

Good point. But if it's reality you want, why not copy Poker After Dark, pay the participants an appearance fee, then make them put it into real-life action. Woofing and all.

I've made this point before, but it's worth making again.

Trick shots.

So if even real pool players don't like trick shots who is keeping them on the air? I agree, I tape them and cant do anything but zip through them in 5 minutes. At least there is streaming.

You're on the wrong forum, lame Larry. Get a clue, or show up for your drowning. Better yet, take your silly schtick to a pool hall and see where it gets you. Busted thumbs and an empty wallet is my guess.
