Wade crane killed in car wreck last night

Wade update

After all the confustion with the UT morgue Wade has been left to start decaying. He had not been autopsied or imbalmed, so now they are letting the family finally have his body. He is being brought to his hometown of Robbinsville, NC today and immediately buried today. The family is devasted because now we cannot view the body for closure. He will be buried in the Carver Cemetery today. We will later offer a memorial for Wade and let everyone know. Thanks for all the prayers, love and support from everyone.

I feel so bad for your family. God bless you.

Some people may not know this but Wade was part of the ROAD SCHOLARS, a collection of stories by many famous pool players.

Wade shared at least one particularly funny story on the DVD which was produced by Diana Hoppe. I think he tells two stories but one is particularly funny. (Many other road scholars on the DVD, too)

You can get more information about the DVD by clicking here. Diana is a good friend of the players and the pool community in general and a great photographer as well.

Wade was laid to rest today at the Carver Cemetery here in Robbinsville, NC. We still are planning a memorial later. We will let everyone know more later in case anyone wishes to come.

Remembering Billy

I have been out of pool for some time now--given up the road years---years ago,but Billy and I would get in touch from time to time. First time I ever saw him play was in Greensboro --late 70's --Jerry Brock came in asking for the eight from Billy in a race to eleven. I think I saw Brock get to shoot once that one and only session. Eddie O'connell and I were with Billy when he went to Charlotte to play Denney Serce and Bill was using my szamboti during that session--Billy helped many people with their game and I was one
I didn't find out about his death until recently and was greatly saddened.
Leave with this one--Billy was playing Frank Stinner out of Raliegh--made the trip from Greensboro and Billy was getting into high gear and the bet was pretty good--after about an hour or so Frank's money had some what disappeared--Frank still had no idea about who he was playing --looked over at Billy and stated--You break the damn balls just like Billy Johnson
We laughed all the way back to Greensboro on that--RIP old freind

Thanks for the post. It was a good read, brought back a lot of memories about some names I hadn't heard in a long while.

It's hard to believe that it has been a little over a year since Wade's passing. RIP, Billy Johnson!

Ditto.................:sorry:

Bom.Bom. He could flat out play...............makes me wonder how he and Searcy would of matched up in thier prime. I know Louie Roberts wouldn't of liked it, but he would of tried.

I played Hiawian Brian for three days on the cheap--I just had made one hell of a major score, but he wasn't going to know it. I was 10 games down on the third day at about 11 oclock at night, with in a few minuites I was even again--with in 20 min I was down 10 games again and hadn't shot--I layed down close to a ten, I was told latter ,,and Brian answered in the same--
Billy had what it took in situations like this-- he spoted Brian the 7
and had the tenacity to take it off--Billy made it work when people
said it couldn't be done---That was Billy Johnson
