Samm's On the Case ~ Earl Strickland

Earl is the man. I got a chance to talk to him for about an hour and a half last week in Youngstown. People think hes crazy but he has a lot of good ideas for the game.

I'll never understand all the weights. I can see where all of his views on the game have merit, even if someone may not agree with what he says. I just hope he brings that game of old when he plays Shane.

Gotta love the pearl

Samm handled Earl quite well I thought.

You're right she did, but then again I don't think there's anything wrong with what Earl says. I'm all for people speaking their mind, and Earl is the source of a lot of controversy as well as a lot of information and thought-provoking opinions you don't hear from many pros.

I thought it was a good interview both ways. Samm's good at was she does and so is Earl.

It is pretty hard to argue with a lot of things Earl says...

He makes some good points, but I still don't understand all those weights he moves all around his body! I've been watching Earl play for many years and he never used weights to win his big titles when he was playing his best pool. Maybe he should go back and watch some of the Accu-stats videos of himself playing and winning the US Open. In 2000 when he won his 5th US Open all he used was a black glove and he played the best I ever saw him play all week during that tournament.

Weights? I don't understand......

I wonder how hard he breaks if he takes his weights off. You have to think that weights would slow you down. 10 lbs seems like a lot too, does anyone know if earl ever plays anymore without his weights?

The weights are on his bridge hand to enhance stability and steadiness. Earl states that "key to hitting the ball solid and getting a solid break". I agree with him although I haven't tried it yet. He might want to also put another 10 lbs of weight on his shooting arm when he practices breaking. Then take it off for a game. That might up his power. The leg weights probably build up his endurance. If Earl told me to add 10lbs of "ass weight", to up my game, I would. In my book he's one of the greatest players and Champions in pool. I hope he comes out to Southern California one day. I would love to meet him.

I'm getting to used to shooting with people that are left handed lol, I'm right handed and it's sad to think that I thought he had weights on his stroking arm, my fault lol.

If it helps Earl be more consistent then I'm all for him doing whatever he needs to do. Can't wait for March 18th :D

Excellent as always. Samm knows how to get the scoop.

I like it when Earl elaborates about his equipment and perspectives which are so unique. More often than not, his statements make perfect sense, especially when he explains why he does the things he does.
