This is a first for me. Brunswick Commander. What do you guys think?
Here's one you don't see everyday.

oops. too tight. I did the rails in the shop, I couldn't double check the extension without having the slate, since it was a t-rails table.
here's the fix. We ended up with 4 1/8" corners and 4 5/8" sides, Tournament pocket angles, Simonis 860HR, Artemis (k55) Cushions. Hope your happy Nick.

Can you erase the writing you did on the rails ?
And is there a Brunswick label on there somewhwere ?

These tables were made in the 1940's (I think).

I replaced the rail cloth.
Yes, there was a Brunswick label on the table. And you can find them on the Brunswick website.

I think so, too, or at least one that looked much like it. I believe there was also one in the upstairs place downtown - name forgotten, but at something like 8th and Broadway - that closed long, long ago.
A beautiful job. As always, you do excellent work. Simonis Tournament Blue is my favorite color cloth. But, on tjis table is just doesn't look right. Green may have been better or perhaps a tan. But that's just my opinion. Regardless of the cloth color, it's a thing of beauty. As with all the older Brunswick tables it probably plays great too. By the way, thanks for the post.
I've never seen one like it, but it looks like a nice table. I like the blue cloth a lot and i'm thinking of selling the green Simonis cloth I bought and buying the blue instead. I've had the green Simonis for a while and I haven't gotten around to installing it. Now i'm having second thoughts after seeing so many tables with the blue cloth.

Pete, perhaps your right about the cloth color. This table is Nick Spano's, a serious pool player. The pool players pick Tourny Blue about 90 % of the time, its actually the only color in Simonis that I stock. I calibrated the rails and the table plays great. Since its a T-rail table the rails sound a little clunky compared to today's standard rails.

Those (unique) truncated corners sure would end the "banged my thigh on the corner" syndrome. The vertical sides would concern me though...do they cut into your thigh when you cue close to the table?

There used to be a Hard Times billiards in downtown (yes, on Broadway). I went there in '91. It has since closed down, but I don't remember when. Is that the one you were talking about?
If it was upstairs, then it's probably the same place. That name doesn't feel right, and I'd have said it closed by the mid-80s at the latest, but I could easily be wrong. By then I was mostly writing code 15 hours a day for months at a time, and there are lengthy periods of 1982-1989 that are very hazy.

11th and J street (Not Broadway - I think). Was run by Dick McGivern for several years.
I was never there but had heard a lot about it. It did reopen for a few years as a Hard Times in the ealry 90's.

Thank you, Mark, that was starting to bug me. 11th Street sounds right. I'd have said that J Street was too far south, but you're probably right about that, also. After the early '80s, I rarely went downtown except to go to Athens Market, Rainwater's and the San Diego Rep.
Both Gandy's still looking good. I'm certain that Jim would have you do them when they're ready. You did a great job on them. When Jim is ready to redo them, pehaps you can talk him into replacing them with two Diamonds Pro-Ams. Probably wishful thinking on my part.
Sounds good Pete, I have come along way since I worked on your table last. If your happy with my work then your going to love me now. Would love to put Diamonds in there, perhaps we can trade-in those Gandy's when your ready.
