After receiving a tax due notice for a purchase.
Mike Gartland aka Quality Cues, instead of paying tax on out of state purchase, files a form in The State of Kentucky saying they are not responsible for the Sate tax amount, you are!
Whether you realize it or not when you buy a cue from Quality Cues, you owe tax ON TOP of the purchase price.

my jcpenny mastercard charged me $20 late fee for a 1 day late payment. this really pissed me off!!
 
My HOA bill, rec'd 2/3 and dated 2/1/11, said that a late fee of $25 was assessed and should be included with any payment made after 2/1/11.
 
Don't ever sell him anything either

Did you pay tax on them and did he let you know tax was not included ahead of time in the price?
 
i bought a cue from him 2 years ago and never had any issues either. i would buy again. *shrug*
 
Odds are that if he sells a cue outside of the state he resides in then tax is not applied. If he sells a cue to someone in Kentucky then tax is probably applied. When I want a new watch I buy from my old Jeweler in Oklahoma City and they ship it to Kansas City and I pay no tax. I bought one in person a few years back and had to pay the taxes on the purchase.

Most retailers will let purchasers know, that if they purchase a product from them, usually through their website and noted on their payment page that a purchase from an instate buyer will usually pay that states taxes.

I believe Mr. Gartland has a law degree; I think he must have sworn an oath to uphold the law somewhere along the line. Charging sales tax because it is required by law...even though customer expectation says the practice is almost unheard of...shows integrity. Not telling a customer up front that this is a requirement shows ignorance in my opinion. I don't know what was said, or how it was said, but I try to get the bad news clearly disclosed. Misunderstandings kill repeat business

Mike bought a fine cue from me and paid my asking price. I'd do business with him again.

Mike gave me a great opportunity and a great deal on a Black Boar. I traded 2 Scruggs and some cash for it and we both were happy and communicated well during the transaction. Most sellers wouldn't give the time of day in trading for a boar so he got a lot of respect from me.

I never had a problem dealing with Mike, straight forward transactions, honest person, quality product.

Even though you didn't pay any Oklahoma sales tax you would still be required to pay your own sales tax. On our state income tax forms there is a line where you are required to pay sale taxes on any purchases that were ordered and delivered from another state.
