Steve...It will be interesting to see how this turns out. Historically, Rambow cues have not brought the premium prices that original Balabushka cues have. The seller is starting with a pretty high reserve.

I wonder if he told the neighbors daughter that Luther's Balabuska sold for $45,000 just because it was Luther's?

without letters of authenticity it'd be tough to part with 40k. but i'm no collector i really wouldn't know.

i don't understand why something like this would be on ebay, the cue would only be attractive to a handful of collectors whom you could probably contact directly to sell the cue.
and why would someone use paypal for a 40K transaction?????
 
It's sad that a cue that once belonged to one our past heros is going for so much money when he himself passed away, sitting along side his pool table, with no more than eight dollars and change in his pocket. :frown:
 
I have to agree with you. If the money was going to benefit the family, but there is nothing to indicate that in the description, just exploiting it as a commodity.

"Luther's Balabushka cue sold on ebay recently for $45,000 mainly because it was Luther's. I will be starting this one for $40,000 ".
