How about this -- I mean since you think someone who believes in CTE playing someone who doesn't would actually prove something -- at the DCC this year I was in the 14.1 Challenge room and, unsolicited, one of the pro players who occasionally posts here, is aware of all this controversy, and my participation, started joking with me. This guy, who plays a little straight pool (think *really* big runs), said the whole idea was bogus and that none of the pros he knew used it. He wrapped up his comments by saying, "CTE -- pluleese, what a total joke."

So I'll put up that guy :-)

Lou Figueroa

Landon will play. Have your man to call me and identify himself as the one making a mockery of CTE in the 14.1 room....then we will arrange a game. Landon will play 10 ball and he will bet reasonably since he likely has the worst of the game.......he is not afraid to play.

Deleted. Although it is quoted elsewhere, I feel I should remove this post that was written with too much emotion involved. I sent Stan a PM with an apology.

Okay, you're gonna let your 16 year old GAMBLE ??? I have nothing against people doing what they wish with their $$$, but this just reeks of an improper upbringing. Do you let him drink too?

Stan, I know you think the world of your son (as I do mine) and you love him with every bone in your body, but please don't let him start down that dark path of gambling. It can turn ugly and does for many. Teach him to love the game for what it is ON the table not UNDER it.

Very insightful, Maniac. Well done. :)

Maniac, just because someone plays pool for money does not mean that they are on a dark path. No more than you having a beer means that you are a full blown alcoholic that loses everything to the bottle. Plus, give Stan a little credit for teaching Landon HOW to gamble at pool.

Why would you give anyone credit for teaching someone else how to gamble.
The topic is why do people who use aiming systems have trouble walking and chewing bubblegum, not gambling. :)

No not Francisco. I do know that I would bet my house on the match that Stan Shuffett is proposing though.

I know you weren't referring to Francisco, I was kidding because he's been mentioned by at least one person as using CTE, which I wouldn't believe even if Francisco told me. I would be sure there was a language barrier or he was agreeing with me to be agreeable.

I know the person you're referring to and have heard him throw cold water on aiming systems. I suspect he's a little too busy these days running his business to be interested in a CTE grudge match.

Pros don't need aiming systems. They've played so much pool and usually starting at such a young age, I doubt there's a shot on the table that a pro doesn't know how to hit. I don't believe in aiming systems, but at the same time I don't doubt that students have been helped by Stan - certainly enough of them say so. These threads can be fun, but it's like arguing politics - everybody gets worked up and nobody ever changes their mind. Live and let live.

Geez Neil, you ARGUE with everything I ever post. You got a hard-on for me or something???

I SAID I don't have anything AGAINST people doing whatever they want to with their money. I was just bemoaning the fact that Landon is still a KID for cryin' out loud. Oh, he may look and play pool like an adult, but he still has the mind of a young lad and can be very easily influenced. And I don't give a fat rats ass what you say, gambling has done more damage to people/families that it has ever done good. When Landon reaches ADULTHOOD, he's gonna have a lot of lifetime left for the gambling side of pool if that's what he so chooses.

How many people do you know that if you asked them if it was right to teach a 16 year old to gamble, would think that it is okay? I can tell you that if you leave out golfers, poolplayers, and poker players, it would be a pretty low percentage.

I don't argue with everything you post. I actually like a lot of your posts. Just some, such as this one, I disagree with. While I look it as offering another opinion, you want to look at as arguing. Your choice. And, yes, I totally agree that he should be taught how to gamble. Because if he isn't taught how to by someone responsible, he will learn from the irresponsible. And, when he does that, he will be in trouble.

Neil disagrees with EVERYONE no matter what. He even intervened in a thread about Lori Shampo, and started an argument with Lori's friend.

I'm not saying Neil is wrong to argue with everyone, it's nice to have some excitement in the forum.

Does your mommy know you are on the computer all day??? And, do you ever type anything that isn't meant to start trouble??

I will respond to this and you may have your opinion.

In Kentucky the only reward for playing better for the most part is that you get barred from most tournaments.

Landon does play for the love of the game and not for the money. Landon is happy to play any player for cheap sets to improve his game. It's a means to an end. Recently, we drove 600 just to practice with another good player. No money on the line. That is typical of what Landon does. In Kentuck, historically speaking, match play is a part of getting better. Landon plays cheap with Brumback or anyone that wants to play and he will take the worst of it. You will never see Landon in a game taking advantage of another player. NEVER!!!! We are ok with what we are doing.
You can check out our track record if you would like......

Okay Neil, I got a little too emotional on the gambling post. I apologized to Stan and now to you too.

It's all good, my friend!!!

I'll ask the same thing to you Neil.

I'm not, and, yes. Go back through my post history and compare it to yours. You might actually learn a thing or two. On second thought, don't bother, I'd rather not teach you anything.

Ironic that Lou has been calling Joey a CTE cheerleader for months and now he's becoming a Nay cheerleader himself.....
