Naysayers Unite

Neil, I consider you a friend. I even said that there's nothing wrong with arguing with everyone, that's the spirit of this forum.

You do not. OMG - you must be bipolar. One minute you throw him under the bus and the next second you're saying you think of him as a friend? HAHAHA mmmkay

Ironic that Lou has been calling Joey a CTE cheerleader for months and now he's becoming a Nay cheerleader himself.....

What has he been cheerleading for? Naysaying?

For JoeyA and Lou

You know, guys, I've been reading your stuff for what? Twelve years? Maybe fifteen? Over that time, I've developed a good deal of respect for your pool knowledge, writing skills, clarity of thought, etc. But I have to tell you, this round of gratuitous insults, name calling, etc, really isn't up to your usual levels of expression. That makes it not terribly interesting or amusing for the rest of us. Worse, it sets a rather poor example for others, e.g., SpiderWebComm's rather sophomoric attempt with the cheerleaders picture.

And it occurred to me that the real problem is most likely that neither of you has had any significant practice in the nuances of being truly abusive. If you're going to keep this up, you really need to get some lessons from a pro. Trying to learn this stuff by hanging out around the pre-school sandbox just isn't going to cut it (and these days might cause you other problems).

What you both need to do is take a quick trip to Atlanta (it's only 400-500 miles for both of you, right?) and get some lessons in the art of vituperative vitriol from Fast Larry. You could probably get a half-day lesson for a couple of hundred bucks, maybe even an all-day session. And for old RSBers like yourselves, I'll bet he'd even give you a group discount if you went together. Then you could have dinner with Larry in the evening and practice on each other with him there to critique you.

Mabey I am Old school

We can talk aiming systems till we are blue in the face this one that one the perfect one , the worst one but at the end of day it comes down to simplicity

pocket the ball .
then do it again
,
and again ,
if you find your self in a situation where you cant pocket a ball play safe

Mabey I am old school but this strategy seems to prove its self over and over and over

Landon will play. Have your man to call me and identify himself as the one making a mockery of CTE in the 14.1 room....then we will arrange a game. Landon will play 10 ball and he will bet reasonably since he likely has the worst of the game.......he is not afraid to play.

STan

You don't get it, do you. A match doesn't prove anything about CTE one way or the other. So save your money for Landon's college tuition. The guy I'm talking about would crush your boy like a ripe grape playing 10ball.

Well, they can't all be gems. Sorry to disappoint, but that's just the way it is.

Lou, name your guy. Why all the anonymity?

A quick shout out to all UNNA (United Naysayers of North America). As you know, Joey A. was scheduled to speak at next weeks meeting but had to withdraw citing a conflict of interest. He suggested we contact cookie man, who according to Joey, has an excellent program intitled: "The Glaring Similarities Between Vacuum Cleaners and CTE." Cookie man, if you're out there give duckie a call. Limosine service will be provided.
Now to other business... :)

The UNNA motto: ANIMADVERTO, LEDO, PLANTO
(See it, hit it, make it) then move on, for crissakes.

Based on his description my guess is John Schmidt.

Oh, and I love lamp.

Yes, I am guessing Lou meant John as well.

Perfect! I respect John and what he says. He is one of our greatest ambassadors. What a great person and player. And I sincerely appreciate his perspective of any aspect of pool.

Having said that, Landon would love to play 10 ball with John. Landon will play cheap sets and we can do that in John's room and we can do it often.

Also, I would offer John cte/lessons on me so that he could share his perspective with everyone on AZ.

If John is Lou's reference, then I doubt that John would say he could crush Landon like a grape in 10 ball.

Also, for Lou, Landon's college fund is in tact and he will be pursuing a college education upon graduation from high school. There is no need for you to worry about Landon's college funding.

This is a suggestion that always puzzles me. Why would John Schmidt, or any other top pro, be interested in cte lessons, even for free? I mean, I can understand how cte might drastically improve a struggling amateur's shot-making capabilities, but just how much can it improve the aim of a top pro, especially one the calibre of Mr. 400? After cte lessons, could he then be expected to run 600, 700, or 800 balls? That's very doubtful. I tend to think there has to be a limitation to the benefits any top pro might expect to receive from cte.

Even Stevie Moore, in his interview with Samm Diep, does not give credit to cte for his improved play - he mentions that Stan changed his grip pressure and taught him some other things ( I got the distinct impression that the "other things" I mention had more to do with learning how to instruct, rather than learning how to play).

Although it may sound like it, I am not trying to bash Stan or cte. I bought Stan's DVD. I study it whenever time allows. I intend to learn CTE/Pro One even though I don't know (at this time, anyway) the full measure of benefits I will receive from it. I do know, however, that it will at least be worth the price I paid for the DVD, even if all I learn is better communication skills.

Stan: You did a good job on the DVD. It can stand on its own merit. You do not have to taint your good image by allowing yourself to be drawn into woofing contests. The same goes for you, Joey.

Roger

So John Schmidt thinks CTE is a joke because doesn't know how to use it???? Does he think spacebars, commas and spelling are jokes because he can't use them either?

A lot of pros who "see ball -- make ball" their entire lives would mock at any aiming system--- if it wasn't what "they do." That's a fact. I asked Hopkins how he aims and he said, "Dave--- it's amazing. I just see the ball going into the pocket and it does." Based on what he said, does that mean aiming methods have no value? I guess, if you pocket balls like God right out of the gate.

So, just because Pro X, Y and Z think _____ is bad--- it's prob because they never had issues with it.

Secondly, Stan wasn't tainting his own image or anything. I don't blame him one bit. You can only read so much horseshit (Stevie getting paid to promote cte, etc) before you say what you're thinking.

Stan doesn't even have to come on here ever to say a word --- and people would STILL seek out his lessons, and that's a fact. Why would you mention Stan and Joey without even mentioning Lou? I believe he started with the stupid-talk first.

There is no "image" with pool instructors, btw. Either you're knowledgeable and can teach well or you're not/can't. Nobody cares if you woof... no one cares if you volunteered at the SPCA... no one cares if you helped an old lady get a spaghetti jar off the top shelf at the grocery store--- because everyone's a pool player here and everyone wants to get better.

Everyone, if you want a lesson from a non-woofer--- get a lesson from Roger. He knows more about this topic than anyone. After all, he authored three super articles on the subject.

Much in the same way you adored your own font size in your PDF when mlalum mentioned it, maybe John thinks that typing that way is really COOL.
