Hi Everyone,

I hope eBay auctions are allowed as I checked the rules and didn't see they were not.

<strikethrough>Auction ends tonight at 11:59PM EST</strikethrough>

LOOKS LIKE EBAY DIDN'T WANT THE AUCTION TO LOSE THAT HOUR WHEN WE TURNED THE CLOCKS FOWARD. SO THE AUCTION ENDS 12:59AM EST MARCH 23RD.

I have for sale a Palmer Cue from 1965 it's from the "First Catalog" Model #5 - Custom. Chris the owner of http://www.palmercollector.com authenticated the cue via pics and email.... here's his quote: "It's a custom Palmer from the early days, mid 1960's. The butt is from the First Catalog model 5 and the forearm is a Titleist. Usually the Model 5 came with an ebony pronged forearm with inlays - so this is a twist with a plain Titleist forearm. The shafts look like they are all original Palmer shafts too."

So basically it has the butt of the Model 5 ( in the below catalog ) and a plain Titleist forearm... a custom design.

Here's the scan page of the "First Catalog" in 1965 and model number 5 is in the group.

Nice post. Welcome to AZB and good luck with the sale of the cue. It looks like a nice collectible.

Thanks Will!

Coming to this site and reading many of the posts here brings back tons of great memories shooting and meeting awesome people. I always played shooters better than me as I always wanted to learn and become a better shooter. Was an awesome feeling beating someone that a year earlier kicked my butt royally.

I'm very stressed out about getting rid of this cue as it was a great companion to me for many years and as I mentioned on eBay it was love at first sight. It's kind of priceless to me!

Thanks everyone!

I think anyone who's considering buying this cue probably see's how unique it is and will appreciate it as you have. I'm sure she's still got another 40 years of game in her!

Nice job and the auction seems to be doing pretty well.

You got Will's attention, which never hurts.

Thanks for pointing us to it.

Kevin

Thanks guys! Yeah the stick is solid as a rock.. can easily go another 40+ years. I'd like to see pics of it if the new owner gets it refinished... ahh maybe not I don't want to cry like a baby!
LOL!

I received a question and it looks like eBay is not updating the comments on bottom as there's only a few hours left. So let me post here for everyone else.

Question: Do you have the diameter measurement of the ferrules?

Answer: The diameter of the ferrules are 15/32 of an inch.

Feel free to ask questions here if you like!

Thanks,

John

John,
Are all 4 the same size? 15/32 equates to about 0.468" or approx 12mm, if my math is correct.

You are assuming your bidders are members of AZ. From experience let me tell you it is very probable that you high bidder wont be a member (unless you caught Will's eye). When you answer your questions on eBay there's a box you can check to have the answers displayed in your auction, otherwise the answer will only go to the member that asked.

Good luck

Kevin

I think it's the last 24 or 12 hours of an auction where eBay will not let the buyer update the page... not even adding a copy of a question/answer at the bottom of the page.

Off to check if all ferrules are the same size.

Best!

John

Update on the ferrules! There's one shaft 7/16 of an inch dia ( 11mm ). The other three are 15/32 of an inch dia ( 12mm ). Guess the proper measurement is mm... thanks Joe!

Updated: Auction Ends at 12:59am EST ( not 11:59pm ) see my note on first post.

Thanks everyone... I'm turning for the night. When I wake up I'll be richer in some ways and poorer in others!

Good Night!

Just wanted to thank everyone for being very kind and cool! Auction went well as the Palmer sold for $995.00

Chris, the owner of http://www.palmercollector.com estimated the Palmer would sell for $1000.00 Dang good educated guess on Chris' part.

I'll be sticking around here as I got the bug back with your help and might by a cheap Palmer ( a really cheap Palmer ).

Best regards,

John V.

Welcome and congrats on your sale. Chris is uncanny with those Palmer values isn't he? My intro to AZ was also during a cue I sold on eBay and I've been here ever since. Selling that cue and the interaction here on AZ is also what started my pool bug back and the first cue I bought to try for my comeback was also a Palmer. Lots of "coincidences".

Good luck and enjoy.

Kevin

PS: Plus (adding to the list) one of the first members I met here that was super friendly and welcoming and completely knowledgeable and helpful was also Chris Tate (although I'm sure there are a bunch of members here that had that experience).
