Opposite eye dominance problem..Huge..........

Hey Geno,

I am very interested to talk to you about the opposite eye dominance. I was going to call you yesterday, but I am having some water issues in the basement right now. When I get my basement back in order (and by that I mean my pool table setup again) could I call you to chat about the eye dominance? I am thinking in a week or two everything should be settled.

Corey

Hey....just so happens I'm sitting here having a coffee with....well, let's just say he's a pretty important guy. We were reading azbilliards together after he gave me a tour of his Redmond, WA office when we came across this thread. He got a kick out of your Jesuit comment and blamed himself for your preposition error (his grammar check should have picked it up). He also thought you probably couldn't spell Jesuit without running spell-check first.

I didn't agree with him, since I think you're a swell guy. Nevertheless, his glasses fell off laughing at you.

That's great and only fair since I enjoy a good laugh at a lot of what you write.

I'm righthanded, right eye dominant, and I have a cataract on my right eye.

Find an aiming system for that and get back to me.

I think your aiming system might involve the optometrist...rather an ophthalmologist.

There are only so many ways to bake a cake.....

There is a little known book by Kranicki called ‘Answers to a Pool Players Prayers’, that deals with eye dominance and aiming.
It is an in depth look at perception and what happens while you looking at the balls, tone of excellent stuff. So, anyone wanting to know more on the subject should take a look.

Sort of Perfect Aim on steroids that can be easily followed.

To someone that didn't quite understand the whole concept of what I teach it might appear that this is the same info. But I assure you it is not.

We can bake a cake and all the cakes might look like the same but they are not. Just one ingredient can make a huge difference. Just because Perfect Aim might look the same at first does not mean it is.

The meat of Perfect Aim stands on it's own and helped far more players than any book could have.

The book is good in regards to letting players know that there is a problem and help them understand visually. But it doesn't help them overcome the visual optical illusions that we encounter whan we are aiming different pool shots.

Some of the stuff in the book is good where the eyes should be and some of it is pretty much confusing. Showing where the eyes should or could be does not fix the problem.

It seems like in the book that he is covering too many bases and some of the bases are borderline maybes. Some are way off.

There are some thoeries in there that I don't agree with. But like I said he is truing to cover all the bases.

Each individual player only needs to cover his or her base. Find out why they don't see the shot right. Perfect aim accomplishes this over and over in the many lessons that I give.

I bought the book after there were comparisons to Perfect Aim.

Nobody could figure out what I teach and learn it completely from that book. It just isn't there.

I'm by no means bashing the book just stating what I see when I read it from cover to cover.

Nobody coukld ever learn what i teach fron that book. Not a bold statement. Just the truth.

If someday I could show my Perfect Aim to Kranicki it would settle this controversy.

I am confident that he would clear this up in a heartbeat.

In fact Kranicki would probably get a kick out of someone trying to give him credit for what I teach with Perfect Aim. He would understand the difference for sure..........

Maybe that can happen. But it really doesn't matter.

What matters is the amount of players I can reach and teach Perfect aim and improve the game that they love.

To me there is no controversy. it is what it is...............

I am happy with the level of sophistication I'm at.

Lou Figueroa

That comes across loud and clear in your posts. But as I said, I was just busting balls. I don't care how perfect anyone's sentences are. Just pointing out that different people have different views on what makes for "sophistication". I'm sure your Jesuit teachers (and I should point out that I too have that background), taught about a certain someone a couple of thousand years ago who didn't care at all about sophistication---didn't use it as a measure of a man. In fact you might say its at the center of all they teach. I was a philosophy and psychology double major, so I know where you're coming from. I guess the bottom line is that calling someone a nit is just a less sophisticated way of calling them unsophisticated. The value is the same though.

Geno,

I have your DVD's and your adjustments make no sense the way they are explained.
I know basics of what you are trying to teach and I understand the importance of being in the right place, vision wise.
Still there is a lot that is missing in your DVD. The 1st DVD was bad and second didn't make it much better.
I can imagine that the lessons with you could be different.
The book I mentioned has a lot of information of value.
No less than what your DVD is offering in my opinion.

New video will clear this up for sure...........

Hi there Wolven,

Having taught Perfect aim continually for the past 2 years I have gotten much better at explaining it. They say practice makes Perfect.

I have learned new ways to teach it in a way that make it pretty easy to understand. I even have great success just teaching it on the phone.

There are three things that I teach now that I've learned since the last video. Never before taught stuff that works.

I do all these things to help my game. If it didn't work I wouldn't teach it. It has to work for me first.

I offer you the same thing over the phone. You will see what I mean if you will take me up on this offer. My goal is to help as many pool players as possible with their game as long as I'm around and able. Even if it is just one player at a time.

Once this new video is out the cat will be totally out of the bag. There will be no comparisons to anything out there today.

In the old video I just basically told players what they had to do to see the shot better and hopefully they did it and most did and they could aim better, but if they had the wrong eye identified as dominant nothing would work.

The new one has a whole section on this plus it goes into alot more detail explaining what is going on. Anyone that bought the video could call if they had any questions and this helped many to understand.

I'll still do this with the new video. Some players will still need a helping hand with it but that's OK. I want to make sure they understand it so they can improve their game to the limits of their capabilities.

If this would have been easy to figure out someone would have done this a long time ago. I'm surprised they didn't.

But the main thing is that it is here now and I'm just doing what I can to give back to the game that has given so much to me. And right now we need everyone helping out with this great game of ours.

I just wish I could do it for free all the time but you can't live on buttons.

I sure hope you accept my offer and call me. I would like to share the whole concept with you so you could see for yourself.

715-563-8712 Hope to talk to you soon. Geno.............

Thanks Geno. I will give you a call but I will watch the DVD again before calling. Cheers...

You got a rain check my friend..........

Hi there Corey,

If you want you can wait or you could go to any pool table with your cell phone and I will help you get started with your aiming.

this is kind of good right now. i'm working on the new video. I'm not doing too many personal lessons this week but helping some of the Azer's like yourself on here keeps me fired up.

Call me anytime. looking forward to hearing from you geno..........

So anyway I asked him if he could tell which of my eyes was dominant and he tells me (you got it wrong BTW so, no, you didn't "help" me with squadoosh) and then I asked if he felt if it would be important for me to shoot favoring one eye or the other and he said no, he didn't think so -- that that wasn't the way eyes worked. What was more important was to give your eyes the same view each time so your brain had a constant reference point

My own "view" is that the mechanics of your stroke are far more important than actually seeing the ball, favoring one eye or the the other.

1.) Ever consider that what Geno is preaching is how to get your eyes in the right position every time?

2.) Ever consider that you might be one of the lucky ones who dont have cross-dominant eye issues?

3.) Tell your optometrist I will back Geno for up to a 10k match and he gets the orange crush, since he is such an expert at billiards and all. We can sidebet the match for a min 5x the stake if you like?

4.) Have you ever considered the irony that you are basically calling Gene a snake oil salesman, and then your incontrovertible proof is quoting and optometrist who has taken 10 years to put you in a pair of contact lenses? And then you start talking about your education and how well grounded in logic and how well your arguments make sense? thanks for giving me something to rotflmao about today.

5.) Nobody cares about your 'view' that the way we see the ball is irrelevant and that all that matters is mechanics.

6.) You obviously have it out for Gene, but it seems to me you need another hobby.

Should we do 7-12?

Geno, I know you didn't mean to, but a "rain check" for a guy with water in his basement might not be the best choice. :yikes: As someone who has had water problems in my own basement in recent years I had to chuckle at this. :D

No pun intended.......

It seems like the funniest things happen unintentionally.

Good call. Sorry Corey. But I'm laughing so hard I can't hardly type.

i didn't mean to make fun of your bad fortune.

Hope you still call me.

Thanks geno........

OK, we're cool.

Just out of curiosity what poem did the Jesuits have you memorize your freshman year? I have this fantasy where all the Brothers sit around and laugh about what poem they're going to brand each freshman class with because they know, right out of the box, everyone is going to try real hard to get the assignment right and will end up stuck with this hugemongous poem stuck in their head for the rest of their life.

can still recite
"The Cremation of Sam McGee"

Just for a moment I was actually considering giving you thoughtful answers to your questions until I got to #4 and realized you can't figure out that a person's eyes change and that, at a yearly exam, contact prescriptions would need to be adjusted to compensate for that change in strength and in my case astigmatism. So what I was saying was that, every year, he makes that adjustment for me and I get a great set of contact lens for pool and that he's been doing that for me for 10 years since I started to go to him. But I guess that was all just a tad too difficult for you to figure out so that will be the end of our gay repartee. Buh-bye.

I swear
they're comin' out
of the woodwork

Oh no. I believe some of these guys really are this dumb :-)

Lou Figueroa
doesn't mean I have to
keep dealing with it though

I'll be up late so don't hesitate to call even up until 1:00 if you have any questions.

I've had alot of fun helping players see what the eyes are doing over the last 4 or 5 days. Every one was a 100% success. Cleared things up alot for these players.

How does the song go. I can see clearly now. I think by Johnny Nash. That would be a good theme song for Perfect Aim.

especially after you learn what to do with the dominant eye.

Like I said, Up until 1:00AM.

Talk to you soon Geno............

Well I always loved a hustler. Maybe your deal is something that can be worked with along with many many many other things. I like that song too. An anecdote. I'm watching Showtimes Callgirl Diary Thing. One scene the princible has a food sex thing going and during their thing a song is played from way back I have heard many times. I got a thing for melody and lyrics and memory. So after Poker After Dark I turn in. Fast forward to 445 and in my head is that song..

Most of my waking hours I spend with both eyes open not worrying about Dominate Eyes, or what eye is open.

A friend who is a very good Pool Player once said if the OB Ball is Breaking Right Tilt your head to the Right and visualize the shoot before you shoot, and do the opposite if the Ball is breaking left.

Seems to work, some people make a big deal out of nothing. JMHO.

Amazing the things we do to see the shots........

Hi there COWBOY,

Glad to see your back on the job.

It's amazing the different things players do to try and see the shots correctly and the most amazing thing is alot of these things seem to work to a certain extent.

My goal with the new video, POWER AIMING WITH PERFECT AIM, IS THAT ANYONE WILL BE ABLE TO FOLLOW IT STEP BY STEP AND IMPROVE THEIR AIM IMMENSELY.

I think I might even send you a copy.

Good to hear from you again my friend..............
