Layani carom cue

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to share my personal experience about the new Layani carom cue that I received two days ago. I must admit that I was a bit sceptical at first to go out of the frame and to choose something so different in regards to the joint. Since I live in Melbourne/Australia for me is very difficult or perhaps even impossible to put my hands on such cue to try it. So I had to take my chances. And what a surprise, the cue is really good, and it hits very well! I did not notice much of deflection when played with it and it certainly has quite a bit of power. Surely to be a good asset to anyone who seeks for a good performing cue. It is definitely a ‘keeper’.
I've been reading posts in this forum, new and older ones, regarding good carom cues. I heard about the great Dieckman cues (which perhaps I will never have a chance to try or own one :( and the great R. Kilby's cues as well. Hopefully, one day when come to NY I would have the chance to meet some of you for a nice game or so and try one of those famous cues? It is such a shame that in Australia this beautiful sport is so poorly developed...

Wow, I'll look forward to getting a Layani in the future. Reading this makes me consider this. :)

It is rare that anyone would be unhappy with the hit of a Layani.

Thierry is meticulous with his art.

Dieckman is in New York for 2 weeks. And he's packing too. Mostly Pool Cues but if by coincidence you're there he just might have a carom cue.

I'd really like to at least see a Layani. The joint is intriguing from a tooling guy and 3C wanna be. Life isn't all bad with 2 Dieck's in my bag.:groucho:

Therry makes a great playing quality cue . I bought some wood from him a while back and a buddy bought one of his cues with the unusual joint . Hit great . I think he is concentrating on 3 cushion cues only now ... A good choice for anyone ...;)

Thanks everyone for the comments!

Just came from the billiards room. Had few nice games of straight rail. Guys, can't tell you how happy I am with my choice to buy a Layani cue!!! Whatever Thierry says on his web is just true. The cue is OWESOME! It feels solid when you hit and yet plays very lightly and softly. Masse and pike shots seems to be executed a bit easier with this cue as well. I feel very good feedback after executing a shot and I do not need to exert much of extra power when drawback from longer distance.
Looking forwards to buying a 3 cushion Layani shaft!
Cheers!

Thank you!
Always giving good suggestions, I appreciate it. Pitty, I won't be able to come to NY any soon, but perhaps one day I'll have the pleasure.
Thanks once again.
Cheers

I have to add to all great comments about Layani cues, It has great feel - feedback after every hits and the cue has such a nice ballance. I am currently practicing the rail nurse technique and have been looking for a carom cue that is light enough and still has the back bone of a 3cushion cue. Finally found a Layani with Libre/Straight rail specs. from a company call Carom Cue Company. Boy am I happy with this crazy joint.

Musashi29, I totally agree with you! The cue is well balanced as you said and what I also may add is that controlling the balls is with greater ease when have them in a very close distance to the cue ball. The day I tried it became my preferable cue for the series games. Easy to draw back even from a distance between the balls less than a cm without making them run too far from each other. Smooth feel, good feedback and good control- I guess I got it all. I had only one small issue and that was the tip mushrooming. It is easily fixable but I still would prefer the cue to come with medium hard Kamui.
By the way, already ordered another shaft for three cushion and the weight kit. Although I love my Adam Super Pro (Thanks Vass!!!) I can't wait to see how would be like when playing three cushion. Will keep you posted.
Cheers

Where do you play 3C in Melbourne? I was in Sydney for a year and could never find a table. Never spent much time in Melbourne, though...

Hi HomeBrewer,
I guess I had just the same experience when visited Sydney...I looked in every possible hall in the city, found nothing, but only pool and snooker tables...Here in Melbourne the problem was just the same - very hard to find carom table to play on. So I had to play carom on the snooker or pool tables just to scratch the itch... However, two years ago couple of Korean clubs opened up and now we have six 8ft carom tables in Melbourne, Korea made. Clubs are located in the heart of the city, one is on on A'Beckett St, which is just next to the crossroad of La Trobe and Elizabeth St. The other club is located on Burke St. The name of the clubs are Cue City (1&2). If you are coming to Melbourne, you may contact me (or anyone who is coming here is welcome to contact me) on my email and we could meet for few games. It will be awesome to meet people who love carom billiards.
My email is: jekovivan@hotmail.com

Can't wait to buy my own carom table!!! I will be the happiest person on Earth...

Hi, guys. I live in Sydney. I can give you guys some hints where you can go to play carom.
If you guys want to play carom, go to Cabramatta. There are 2 Billiards clubs on the Cabramatta road, right at the Cabramatta shopping center - opposite Cabramatta police station. One shop called Dailoi Billiards, the other called Billiards 2000. They are both Vietnamese shops. The table I think 8-9ft, imported from Vietnam, play pretty good in my opinion. The balls are Aramith top quality ones. It costs around $12/hour, the cues are just standard for public. Bring your own Layani, Adams, Longoni...cues there to play and enjoy the game.

Caromlover, thanks alot for the pointers, will check those rooms for sure when I go to Sydney.
