4ea Diamond 5'x10' ProAms in the making.

And I agree (and agreed, past tense) with you on this. I mentioned JCIN's previous post.

it's great that you agree with me on some things.

didn't glen start this thread?

Does Connelly not make a 5x10 ultimate?

Connelly don't make a table worth being called "commercial use" All they make is cheap home style pool tables. Besides that, the BANK just sold Connelly to someone else....so, when you say "Connelly"....who are you talking about?

ok

Slim...you're missing my entire point of my posts buddy. My posts are not about Shane loosing to Earl....if it were....I'd be asking you if you remember not to long ago when Shane ROASTED Earl on a 9ft Diamond? I don't care who won the last race to 100, THAT is not the point....here, I'll say it so you understand...EARL beat Shane on THAT gaff table that BOTH of them played on. NOW...my point was...and STILL is....that because of that table....that they DID play on....NO ONE got to see the REAL talents of BOTH players...running racks...and getting out! YES...Slim....Earl DID beat Shane during that event. BUT...having talked to Shane since then...I know for a fact...he'd never play Earl on THAT table again....you can take that to the bank!

Would I like to see them play again...YES, but ONLY if it's on a real 5'x10' with correct pockets, cloth, cushions...LEVEL slates...the REAL kind of pool that they BOTH are capable of playing....THEN....lets see who comes out on top!

PERSONALY...I think if the table had been a real pocket table...Shane would have beat Earl....but, that's just my OPINION!

Glen

glen,

i will ask again, did shane say to you that he thought he lost because of the table that they played on?

...
Will it be fun to watch them do it again, on a newly-built "proper" table? Sure. That doesn't take anything away from the amazing match we've already seen.

Just browsing this thread I see a lot of comments to the effect that Shane will dominate on a "real" 10' table. Maybe I'm the only one wondering how much better (or worse) Earl might also play. I'd like to see JA and SVB play (pick a 10' real table location) with the winner getting the rematch against Earl.

My day is about over

no comment;)

well glen,

i am not sure what to make of that answer.

I am about to log off of my computer for the day.

So i would like to say to you:

Be safe in your travels & i hope to meet you some day,

I can assure you Rick...Diamond is stepping up to the plate for this one... there WILL be some "Right" 5'x10' ProAm pool tables showing up soon, then at least "all" the players will know what to expect from the table before they even play on it;)

I'm not mad or anything with you or at you buddy...I just have a passion for this sport to be treated right, and I'm doing everything in my power to make that happen....one pool table at a time...and with Diamond's help, and my helping Diamond as much as I can with what I know as a table mechanic. Have a good evening SLIM:D

Have no doubt they will make a top playing table. In the meantime I'm sure there are some existing 10 footers around the country that may not be up to Diamond proposed specs but surely much better then what was used in the ES/SVB match. Even with top equipment, when the best players come to play I think it always boils down to who's more on their game at that point in time that determines the winner. JMO

I couldn't agree more:thumbup:

Whats a ballpark ETA for the first of these 5x10 tables to roll out of the shop?

Make it a major event, prep a cool match for the premier of the table, Earl vs SVB round 2 would work fine.

If you market these things right and hype them up I could see this being the start of a paradigm shift in this sport.

Well...the first and hardest part....is getting the one piece 5'x10' slates:D

Everyone keeps talking about other tables they could have played on but I haven't seen a 10' table for sale or lease lately. It was my understanding they tried to find other tables but this was all they could find.

A pool hall I played at when I was young had some tables that were probably cut similar to this 10' table. If a road player came in, it was like getting the 7 ball from them until they could adjust to the table. Some road players adjusted quicker than others but it was always rough on them at the start. Someone posted Shane had plenty of practice time on the table so I don't see a reason he was at a disadvantage though.

Real Cobra do you work for Diamond? Also, has Diamond begin manufacturing any 10ft tables yet and who is going to be getting the first ones?

No, I don't directly work for Diamond...I do consulting work for them...as in I've been a table mechanic for the last 28 years...and have been involved with, and consulting Diamond since about March of 2000. No, production hasn't started as of yet, Greg just called me a little while back and informed me that they are in the ordering stages of having their slate manufacture make 2 1" thick slates, and 2 1 3/16" thick slates so that we can go ahead and build the 5'x10' ProAm's. I'm not sure how they're going to be when it comes to handling them on the Diamond dolly's yet, or how they're going to fit through some doorways...but we'll see soon enough. If the one piece slates are just to much to handle...then I'll cut them into either 2 pieces, or 3 to make the table more easy to handle. I have a way of taking a slate I cut into and putting it back together again as a one piece slate after it's laid back out on top of the frame of the table...so I'm not concerned about that aspect of the table.

As far as who's in line to get one....I know there's going to be buyers no doubt...but as of right now, the first 4 are not being sold at this point in time.....but that may change later as we work a little bit more with the size of the table. I can tell you this though...these are not going to be proto type tables...Diamond has made enough changes in the last year to perfect this table right out the gate to play just like their new playing ProAm's & Smart Tables....perfect banks & perfect rail speed;)

Then what would the rubber match be if Shane wins?
What if Earl won again?
Many possibilities.

I'm partial to JA v. SVB with the winner getting the rematch v. ES
