Anyone been? Is it even around anymore?

Any place in the basement and you need to be buzzed into has got to have character.
 
it's still there....it's a korean place

the whole buzzing in thing...well let's just say there's a lot more going on in that place besides billiards and leave it at that!

Its been around for years if its still there at least 7 friendly chill downstairs from a gay bar. The Korean owner will totally give free 3 cushion lessons if he isn't busy. Cool place no liquor or food and you can also enter from the alley where they have free parking. In Boston check out Columbia road billiards the address is on my website www.Roadhustler.com use the map on the home page and you can zoom in on Boston to see the rooms. If you find any good ones pm me ill check it out and put it on the map.

We had a room like that. Took them months to renovate and only one month to get closed down after that.

Young kids came in, went straight to the office in the back room and were gone in one minute. Undercover only had to park down the street from the rear entrance and watch the traffic. WTF were they thinking?

Too bad, it was done rather nicely and had potential to be a nice room once again.

I'm pretty sure this place closed on Boylston about 5 years ago. The last time I was at that location, the tables were being fazed-out by bookshelves holding thousands of comic books.

You only had to be buzzed-in if you used the front door. The back door was always open during business hours.

It now exists in Allston. There are two GC-III like pool tables and maybe eight 4.5x9 four-ball tables.
 
i'm pretty sure it is still there...at least the sign is still up, i just saw it a few weeks ago. google street view also shows the sign as still there, though who knows when those images were taken.

i think i know the place you are talking about, korean place in allston. it's been there for many years, i was there maybe like 10 years ago? the one on cambridge st? haven't been by there in awhile, so i don't know if that still exists, but it's not 4x4 afaik.

If you're interested in playing snooker, check out The Billiards Cafe in Ayer or Breakaway Billiards in Clinton, both of which are west of town.

World Class Billiards in Peabody is the place to go for 3-cushion, and you may find strong pool players there, too. (McChen could tell you more about that.)

For straight up pool in downtown Boston I'm not sure what your best choice would be. Several of the larger pool halls in Boston closed in the past few years, and depending on what you're used to I'm not sure whether you'll find what you want downtown.

One of these days I'd like to pop by 4 x 4.
