It's a tournament that Ralf Souquet organized to fill the GAP between the Beijing Open (wrongly named) and the 10 Ball event put on by Raya, otherwise known as NoPaya. ;-)
 
Where else can you watch a free stream of world class matches on a Friday morning and afternoon? Thank you again Star Billiard Center for all you bring to us from the PI. Johnnyt
 
I don't see any of the US players at Stars for the mini tournament. They must all be over at One Side gambling. lol. Johnnyt
 
WPA Provides GAP Event for Players in Manila

The World Pool Association has provided $10,000 in funding this week for the GAP event being held this week at Star Billiards in Manila that may be viewed at: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/starbilliards-tv

This event came about because the WPA realized that with only a week between the Beijing Open and the World Ten Ball Championship, there would be no proper time for players to return home. So $10,000 was provided to Ralf Souquet (who graciously volunteered his time and efforts to run the event) so that the players could have an informal "fun" event during that gap period.

This is a casual event. Run by the players and for the players in order that they might have some relaxing time together to play and socialize with the opportunity to win some money to help defray their travel costs to play in these WPA events.

Should the players report that this was something they enjoyed then the WPA looks forward to doing this same sort of event in the future. After all, pool is supposed to be fun! And it is the hope of the WPA that this event is fun for all who have the opportunity to participate.

well it was I, Biboy Soriano and Ralf Souquet who run this tournament
yes WPA gave a $10,000 fund but it did boil down to $9,700, Ralf have to get $300 for some expenses
entry fee is $100

anyway 23 players join the Gap tournament
Gap Champion is Dennis Ocullo winning $1,700
runner-up is Lee Van Corteza winning $1,400
3rd placer is Chang Jun Lin winning $1,200
4th is Niels Feijen winning $900
5th and 6th are Shane Van Boening and Fu Che Wei winning $750
7th to 10th gets $550
11th to 16th gets $300
17th to 23rd gets #200

ops i forgot the rest
anyway i enjoyed doing the tournament where even you lose in the double knockout you still get your share of $200, double-up
