Hey guys,

I have recently been playing alot of pool since my new condo building has a pool table in it. I woudn't say I am a full novice but im not a intermediate player either. I am advanced enough to know I would benifit from a cue of my own and i just dont like using the house cues, they're in bad shape.
My price range is probably capped at $120. I have read almost all the posts here and have got alot of useful info and was hoping for some more.
I have narrowed my choice down to two pool cues and wanted opinons on if either are good, bad, any experiances or if im way off on my choice. any help would be greatly appreciated!!! p.s the site ive linked is in canada, like me, so thats why i will probably be ordering from there.

the first is an action BW09 cue http://www.cuestore.ca/pool_cues/action/black_and_white_series/1/bw09

the second is a Player's g-21bd cue http://www.cuestore.ca/pool_cues/players/all/4/pl-g21bd

again, any opinions on these two cues or any others in this price point that i may have overlooked is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

welcome to the forum andrew. if you have narrowed it down to those 2 cues i would suggest the player if for no other reason than the warranty. i dont know how well they uphold their warranty but i feel some kind of warranty is better than none.

i have no experience with action cues but have owned several players. i thought their quality was outstanding for their price. i gave them all to family and friends as i progressed to higher end production and now 1 custom cue. there was 1 player i wish i had kept, it was an awesome shooter, better than some i have paid 4 times as much for.

as for other brands i think you cant go wrong with a mcdermott altho they start out at a price higher than i think you are looking for judging by the cues you listed. good luck in your search.

I have hit with some cheap players cues and they hit pretty sporty. In other words worth every penny.

I can also suggest you is buy a second hand shaft like predator,ob,tiger etc and get some cheap butt and you will have a great playing cue and also it will serve you at least few years. That is if you want to use low deflection shafts. If not than the standard players shafts i used were pretty good too,

The Player would serve you fine for now. Might think of going to your local pool hall or league playing bar and throw your name out there and almost guarantee you will get some response. Best of all you could test drive it.

sneaky petes

can't Jim Baxter make a house cue conversion for about $120 bucks? I think a custom cue with a decent tip will play as well or better than anything you can buy on a website...

Either that or convince your friend to spend a few hundred dollars and buy the nicest cue he can afford. I know I spent about $150 on a McDermott thinking that's the most I could/want to spend when I started, upgraded to a Predator in a matter of weeks, a Pechauer in a few months, and then into customs after I found this site.

Could save money and flipping by starting out nicer.

Buy a used Joss off of EBAY. If your patient, you can one around your budget. As long as it is straight and it good condition you can't go wrong.
