Jmho!

Although you have a very nice cue there..(I have on like it myself) I think you may have it priced out of the market.. This is a tough market these days but I wish you much luck and success with your sale..

Price changed

Price reduced after getting input from a few owners of these cues and looking over bluebook.

Thanks
John

You might wanna send your cue to Meucci for some refinishing. I'm sure you'll be able to fetch better offers for your piece of history.

Good luck with your sale!

Trust me on this DO NOT send this or any cue to Meucci it will take forever, or may disappear.

If anyone has a Meucci cue they need repaired send it to Ryan user name Ratcues, he works for Mueller's Recreational Products and is authorized by Meucci to do their repairs. He does excellent work, in a timely manner in fact he would do better work than Meucci would do.

Is that true? I've no idea how it works.

But it seems quite unbelievable that will happen, considering that Meucci is the manufacturer. If such has happened before, wouldn't people take legal action against Meucci or Meucci would have already gotten a bad reputation for such dishonesty?

Just me thinking.

The Dog doesn't BS people !!

If you read some posts on sending cues around the Country- you'll understand!! and it happens here in the USA. always insure the cue(over value. My home owners only covers the cue costs when I can go out and buy (the exact same cue).. not a Penny till its replaced. With that in Mind - seen another like yours around ?? in the last 30 yrs still here. Mark

i sent a cue to meucci once for a warranty repair.. they had it for almost 2 years... and the first few phone calls to them was the excuse.. your cue is almost finished and it will be shipped right out.. then they gave the excuse they ran out of white irish linen..lol.. finanly super billiards expo was comming up soi cornered bob meucci at his booth and he made a phone call to see why it was taking so long and told them to get the cue right out... by the time we got home from the sbe , it was home waiting for us.. lol.. they sent a brand new cue.. who knows what ever happened to the one they were supposed to repair...

but i do know, if i didnt corner bob meucci and kinda make things semi public at the sbe, i probably still wouldnt have that cue..

I'd probably leave it in it's current finish anyway. This is probably the nicest (IMO) production Meucci design ever.

GLWYS.

This is where people who are supposed to be good business men fall short. Meucci cues, love them or hate them, are at a point where the older cues could start to become somewhat collectable. (Never thought I would ever say, admit, that) First catalog, to the mid 80's, JR line, Sigel Hook cue, etc.. it would be nice if people who wanted to restore them could confidently send them back to the OEM for the work. Not taking away from anyone elses expertise, but you always prefer the OEM when doing cue work.
Bob would have a nice little resto business if he could get something together that people would have the confidence in sending the cues in, and getting them back in a decent time and historically correct.

Refinishing the LH-5

Thank you everyone for the excellent thoughts and recommendations. Have spent a bit of time thinking about it and concluded this forum is full of people who know more than I do about cues.

My first thought about refinishing is there seems to be chance I may have a delay or difficulty getting the cue returned, a mistake is made in the refinishing process, or I get someone on a Friday doing the work after a few beers, the condition of the cue and value could be degraded. I don't know that it is a collectors item, but the old girl has been around for so long I hate to do anything that would hurt the her.

Second thought (two in one day, WOW) was like many antiques, I don't want to remove all the marks that show it is an antique. A little wear some collectibles is ok, but polishing the metal or wood to remove the patina can cut the value down depending on the purchasers view.

I like the way the cue looks myself, like it was done in the 80's, not quite as polished as some of the new stuff.

But I'm about the same age/vintage and have a patina as well. However, this cue has aged more gracefully, but in my defense it has been stuck in a case in the closet in the dark. So, not being an expert on cues or a collector, I'm more concerned with downside of refinishing than what the upside would be (which would have to exceed cost of subjective risk, shipping and refinishing to be worth while).

I'll sell it as-is and leave the option to the purchaser.

Thanks everyone,
John / Gotasail

What he said... I sent an original I had picked up to get refinished, new shaft, new wrap... 11 months later and plenty of phone calls I finally got the cue back. Funny thing is the last call I made to find out what was going on... Bob himself answered the phone... a week or two later I had the cue.

Ryan, as mentioned, or Mike Erwin are the guys to send Meucci's to.
