Hello AZB ers,

bc it really begins to tease me already to see a new *senseless* thread from this person, i started my first poll ever. It is really so sad for this great board, that individuals like him are destroying all what a board like AZB has been built for.

And i m really praying that the admins will do something in the future.......

lg from overseas and keep shooting,

Hi Ratta;

I can not vote in your poll because, despite the fact that I'm reading here daily, I have not read more than one or two of this guys thread starting posts. So I don't know enough to say yes or no.

I have seen a quite a few people who I respect on here, however, including you, expressing their profound displeasure with him and his ridiculous posts.

For me, I read just the title of the threads he starts, for example, 'Barbox 8 ball is for girls', and that's enough for me.

What I do find truly amazing, though, is I've noticed the number of responses to these threads that everyone is complaining about is sometimes 5 pages or longer.

Why not do like me and simply ignore him?

Best,
Brian kc

I agree, however placing him on ignore is like placing a band-aid over a cancer cell.
He is either very immature, or just a kid looking for attention.
It's also possible that he is someone who caused a lot of trouble a while back under a different name, and was so disliked that he went away and came back as PocketPoint.
Unless he has multiple AZ usernames which is possible, others looking for attention are beginning to do the same thing.
Ignore is probably the correct move, but where do you draw the line.
I really do believe that PP should be banned before more copycats looking for attention start in on the same nonsense, and it has already begun.

It was fun & games for a while, but it's now time to ignore the little creep, and others like him.
Brian is right.

Peace

Ted

I don't believe people are upset by the topics you bring up but the manner that you express your ideas. You obviously dislike barboxes. Rather than just expressing how you believe barboxes are bringing down the pool industry you state that they "are for girls." If I thought Pool was a pointless game I am free to express it as such but it is another thing if I come on here and say "anyone who plays pool is dumb, homophobic, racist, inbred, redneck." There are more tactful and civil ways to express yourself and you just aren't doing that.

You're right Skip.

My posts are concerning topics that some people don't want to hear. They don't want to hear about the destruction of the pool world. The watered down barbox game that is taking control of the industry. The mind numbing league play that many are tricked into participating in.

I'm fighting for something, but seem to be getting nowhere.

Pocketpoint, if you are attempting to bring awareness to problems and flaws in the pool world you might want to take a different approach. Some of your thoughts are valid but because of the manner you present them and your incessant creation of new threads where the topic already exists, I just ignore your threads. I believe there are others like me and that just seems counter productive to what you are trying to do.

Yeah, your fighting for something, right? I can see it now... ban all barboxes, and stop all league play tomorrow and billiards will grow substantially, and top players will be treated and paid like golfers?

Lets be clear, I personally don't like barboxes to play on, my league is 9 foot tables only, and my home table is 9 foot. But what I like should not matter to what others like. Not to mention I play like crap on a barbox but I've seen guys play a barbox like a freaking violin and it was amazing to watch. (Earl even won the 8ball bar box championship last year)

Many of the leagues you detest are in bars, and those bars don't have room for 9 foot tables because they take up too much real estate. And the square footage around my parts is pretty outrageous. And many of the "real" pool rooms are closing because there is not enough business from pool players to play on their 9 foot tables to cover the cost of the rent.

Thus, we find ourselves in a real quandry. IF you take the barboxes out of the bars, there really won't be all that many pool tables around. As much I personally don't like the barbox, I'd rather walk into a bar and see a pool table than not see one. And I'd rather shoot on a bar box than not shoot at all. I'd rather see a bunch of league players spending their money on pool table time, food and beer to help support the bar. Because some of the league players just would not move on to a pool hall to play pool. This is convient.

And for detest for leagues, I don't believe the pool hall I play at would even make it without leagues. There is 90 league players buying food and drinking and that is just on Thursday. Plus, that does not count the subs that show up and watch, so must likley well over 100 players.

So, i've asked this question before, please tell us about your vast experience in the pool world that enabled you to be not only our "leader" of all things evil in billiards, but the expert in every area of billiards. And don't give me some lame ass BS about it's just your opinion, because this is beyond opinions now as you hold yourself out as some type of expert in every facet of billiards.

I've asked you that before but only got ignored, so I'm asking again, so just answer the farkin question....

You can try that, but it's obviously not working. Instead you're just bothering and angering people. I know you're against leagues but if leagues didn't exist in my area I pretty much wouldn't play pool of any sort. I picked up pool in college and stopped during my final year because school got really difficult. After graduation most of the players from our gamesroom played sparingly or stopped due to the realities of life. I loved the game but just didn't have time to play anymore and no one to play against. I later found the league which motivated me to play again. You may be the type to just go into a pool room and ask random people to play but I'm not like that. This type of organization allows me to play again one night a week which allows me to still maintain my career and future aspirations. If I quit the league, I highly doubt I'd still play regularly. Despite what you think "real pool" is, I think the industry would rather have another player rather than one less.

I'm trying to get through to you. Most people aren't going to get up and do something unless they are hit in the head with the problem.

Stand up and work to abolish the leagues. Bring people in to play on the 9' tables. They can still drink beer and have a good time with friends, without associating with the BCA or APA. And they would gain a better appreciation for our game.

Looks to be a 50/50 split so far. I wonder how many people would want to ban YOU.

In that case i wouldn t have to worry not really about something anymore....

Understand the most guys here and their point of view for not voting-and also the guys who sent personal messages here and there.

But still VERY interesting for me.

We have weekly tournaments at our pool hall here. I think the last two weeks were canceled for lack of participation. The last time I actually went there were 8 of us playing. To make it worth their time the tournament cost was $15. We have 50 people show up for league nights. It costs me $9.50 and I still can shoot around after I lose with a variety of people of all skill levels.

I'm gonna respond to your "Poll Bias" thread here because I don't feel like supporting your ridiculous thread creations. If people agreed with your thoughts then they would have motivation to vote to not ban you since they would feel you bring good information to the community. If they don't like your ideas, then they may vote the other way. This, of course, is limited to people who actually have read your threads. I say you have a fair chance either way. No Bias.

Get rid of the damn leagues and instead hold tournaments. Do not associate with the APA or BCA.

Hold weekly tournaments. Double elimination race to 2. House can take $5 per person greens fees, pay the rest back out to the players. Have a calcutta. Second calcutta for the final 8.

Handicap the weekly tournament, A and B brackets. A goes to 2, B goes to 1. Once a month have a scratch tournament.

In between matches, players will have time to drink/eat.

What else? The possibilities are endless. Have a "break the bank" every week. I don't know. Lots of ideas work, it isn't that hard!

You grumpy old fart! Pocketpoint adds color to the forum. It's not like the guy threatens people or is a terrorist. Jeez... Ignore him and pass by the threads or comments you dislike the subject matter. It's a democracy! Chill out, hitler!

PocketPoint, I would not ban you.

Only because I believe in the freedom of speech, even for the ignorant and naive.

But, I do support this feature below.

Voted to ban because I'm sick of seeing a new stupid post every five minutes. This poll has no bearing except as an opinion. I have express my opinion. The action to ban is left up totally up to the mods.

Uhm, you're trying to turn everyone into gamblers and that is not how all people operate. Playing for big money is not what motivates everyone. If "real pool" is strictly gambling then you'd lose many many players.

Whoever wins the tournament, try to get them in action afterwards and play someone with the cash they won.

Have some room for spectators. The newer player can get a chance to see what a bigger money match is like.

They will have a nice place to sit and relax, eat, drink.

There is a good chance they will become enamored with the game after watching someone play for a hundred dollars or more.

THEY will want to be the person playing for the cash. THEY will begin to play more, buy a nicer cue.

They will gain the desire to compete, to become a diehard pool fan. The money they invest will go to the house, the local cuemaker etc.

They need to SEE PEOPLE IN ACTION. They need to see their friend win a tournament, and then gamble afterwards. They need to see what it's like to have 20 people watching one table where there is big money on the line.

That is how you hook a person on this game. That's how you bring them back to your pool hall, and to put in more table time.

They need to see REAL POOL. Some of them have never seen it before. They are playing some sort of other game that isn't even related to our sport.

pocketpoint has his rights to his own opinions. if you feel his threads are senseless or not is your opinion. should we ban you for your opinion. if you dont like the thread dont read it. if it sparks you then respond to it. your response may spark someone else to comment , then we have a forum.

The sad thing is, by ignoring me, you are ignoring the problems that will plague pool until it is completely ruined in this country.

Please remember this, the most dangerous people in a society are not the radicals, but the complacent. The mass majority that do nothing, until it is too late. They are either too busy, or too ignorant to notice that a problem is growing, until it is too late.

Delusions of grandeur is one of the surest signs of mental illness?

It's one thing to have opinions, but the community should still be respectable. People are saying that they let him speak due to freedom of speech but this isn't exactly a public forum. Someone quoted a moderator that we are all "guests" here. Even with your right to free speech there are limitations (i.e. can't yell "fire" in a movie theatre, can't use racial slurs at work). Can I start posting threads stating how certain ethnicities should not be allowed to play pool because their race is inferior? I suppose I could but that is in no way conducive to the community. When an individual contributes only to the detriment of the forum why is it so unimaginable to ban them? A violation of their rights? This is a commercial forum, the mods are free to ban whoever they want. This poll really makes no difference it only expresses the opinion of the group, whether or not they just want this guy to disappear.
