Diamond Pro Table

I have an opportunity to buy a 15 year old Diamond
Pro 9' Table. Are these as good as the current tables?
How difficult to re do the pockets on a Diamond to pro
pockets ??

Diamond has made a lot of improvements to their tables over the last 15 years, but with the right table mechanic...that table can be brought up to the current level of play of the newer Diamond tables as well.

I also have an older diamond purchased new in 2000. Since then I have had artemis rubber installed .What else do you suggest?

They should be fine unless the rubber has gone bad. You can tighten up the pockets by using a thicker facing. 1/4" facings should get you close to 4 1/2" corners. Anything tighter would require subrail extensions.

Any Diamond table can have the playability of it improved if it was built before September of last year....by recalibrating the rails and changing them to the design spec's that Diamond is now using;)

Thanks for your advice. You gave info to contact Josh awhile back. I have and we are planning on some time in July after the BCA show.Will he be able to recallibrate the rails if needed?
 
Debatable. :) I had gall bladder surgery a little over two weeks ago. Docs told me I shouldn't work or lift anything over 10-15lbs for a couple weeks. That just doesn't work for guys that work on pool tables!

I went back to the doc on Friday and got cleared to come back to light duty, so now I get to watch Don do the lifting. :D

I'm recalibrating a set in the shop this week though for Players Family Billiards in Columbus, Ohio, so I'll know probably by tomorrow if I am able to lift the tools to do that work.

I'm sure by the time you get back in touch with me after the 4th like we talked, I'll know how everything is going to work out. It's been driving me NUTS not to be allowed to work!!! And now Don yells at me every time I pick something up. LOL

Sorry to hear abt. your surgery , I hope you are now doing well.Josh let's work around your time frame the only bad week for me is the week of july 10th. I will call you a little later today and make sure you have my home ph. #. Thanks for replying.

Yeah, I'm doing much better. It's not bothering me doing the work in the shop the past couple of days, so I should be good to go. I'll be in Vegas for the trade show the week of the 10th anyway, so why don't we plan on something that following week if you want. Talk to you soon.
