That rule has to be there because there are players not on that list that are not even gray. Wu Yu-Lun is a 3 time world junior champ, he smoked Wu Chia-Ching in the last juniors Chia Ching played in and noone before that finals was giving odds if you wanted to bet on Yu-Lun. Klatt is alot better now but I think Yu-Lun drilled him 9-1 if I remember correctly in that juniors.
Yu Lun is one of those guys that if you brought him to the USA and put him into action he would destroy all but the very best, you want anyone that MIGHT beat him you better find SVB, Deuel, or maybe Hatch in 10-ball. And even then, the match is even money. The guy got 17th in a worlds and 3rd on one of the Guiness tours. I am not sure if he plays anymore, but the guy would likely demolish a true amature event even if he has not picked up a cue in the last 3 years.

I'm not using a different name, and no I haven't cashed or even played in quite some time, but I was still turned away from a qualifier for a professional event 2 years ago. Go figure. To this day it remains a mystery to me as to why - perhaps it was BS politics, who knows?
That type of response to my comments is typical to what is wrong with the entire pool world. I express an opinion, and you make insinuations about my character, which was brought up because of what? There was no reason for that - but you felt it necessary to do it anyway. I don't really play anymore, so it was pointless, but WTF, you thought you'd toss that out there anyway.
Blackjack, that was meant to be rhetorical as we all know you always post and play under your name. When looking for your name in tournaments I look for your real name and Blackjack. I am definitely not accusing you of anything. I am sorry you took it that way. Sometimes word in type do not come across the way they were meant if you were speaking face to face. I have been practicing how to make sure that doesn't happen but it is difficult sometimes when people are passionate about what they are typing.
There has been a lot of rock tossing and posturing all week long. All of this nonsense is reflective of the game of pool and it's current condition. We have players boycotting - promoters responding - chatter here - chatter there - toss a grenade and run for cover. The pool world is one big joke.
Professional player? Where is there a professional tour? All I see is a bunch of regional tours. In North America, professional pool player means high level amateur. Skateboarders have their shitt together better than we do.
Banned list for players? Boycotts? All this proves is that nobody can get along. It's all posturing and throat slashing. What an accomplishment!
The Maxim Ban List is only to let these players know they can not play in any of the Maxim AMATEUR events. All of those players are still able and welcome to play in the OPEN divisions.
The industry won't start or even support a pro tour. Why is that? They don't trust anybody!
We have an entire generation of young pool players that are paying for the decisions that people made 20-25 years ago. Is anybody trying to fix that, or are we content with all these regional tours that run in 42 different directions with resources that should be directed towards building something better than what they are comfortable with?

That's a very true statement. But as I am sure you know, some people have tried to pull it all together but there were many opposing forces. Rest assured the work continues to this day but the pace is slow.

The promoters that put up the cash -or- raise cash for the events that players play in - how do the players give back to them - or is it just take - take - take?
I know the answer to that, and it's a big part of the problem.
We are in this situation because our game is dysfunctional. It is the end result of a severe lack of leadership, along with the inability for some people to get the hell out of the way of progress.
We can ban each other, boycott each other, flip each other off, accuse each other of this or that, its all a giant waste of time and energy. It's also childish and embarrassing. This is the reason why nobody will toss a dime our way. Can you blame them?
I don't.
We can sit here and point fingers at each other all day long - but this mess is everybody's fault. Everybody is losing, and until we pull our heads out of our asses and take care of the ROOT PROBLEMS -EFFECTIVELY... we will all continue to lose.

I am not sure if this is a mistype or misunderstanding of what was written but Open events are OPEN events and anyone can play in the OPEN events unless they have been barred from competition by conduct rules or such from the Maxim Tour Staff and I only know of 2 players that fall under that cetegory.
I wonder how many of the guys on that list themselves owe people money with no intention of ever paying? How many show at tournaments and freeload can't pay entry fees and are looking for stake-horses? How many skip out of town on hotel bills that the promoter ends up paying and forget about bar and food tabs as well as never spending a cent at the venue or even tipping anyone. These are not the most reputable bunch to be throwing stones. Politeness and pretty much undeserved respect is the only thing that keeps people from coming on here and telling what many of these so called professional players are really like.

If they cheat , it's OK that we do , instead of working to resolve the problem ?

I really dont think geno was trying to dis blackjack just trying to make it clear he would not be banned from a Maxim tour event. As far as ive seen Mike Janis is a class act and fair to all. I might add he does a superb job of organizing and running a good tournament. just my humble opinion.
Per a request from Brain White and per his statement that he did not ask nor agree to be a member of the ABP the MaximBilliards.com tour will remove his name from the banned player list and reactivate his Amateur status.
