9 ft Older model Diamond pro work

Hello..I am new here and I recently purchased an older model 9ft Diamond pro table..It is showing some signs of age but I kinda of like the overall vintage look..Reminds me of older pool hall days..But I know it cant be up to date in regards to playing standards..I live in Chesapeake beach md 20732..I cant seem to find anyone in my area to work on my table..All I want to do is bring it up to par playing wize..I think I need new cushions(they dont seem to respond that well), felt, pockets tightened up, and my ball return on one side isnt in the greatest shape..The balls are hanging up on the right side of the ball bay..I am totally clueless when it comes to tables and I am fairly new to the game so I am still learning alot..

I am hoping that someone here can possibly give me some advice and possibly help me in the near future on getting my table play perfect..I have no idea as to what kind ofcushions to buyetc..The table itself is in excellent shape despite the signs of age showing..I only paid 600 for it and I am very happy with the purchase despite the slight variations..Here are a few pics of the table itself, the ball return problem and size of the pockets..The corners are 4.5 and the sides are 5 inch..I have no idea what they should be but they seem large to me..I want them regulation whatever that may be..So if someone can help me, give some advice or interested in the job please contact me and possibly give me an estimate on the job..I would greatly appreciate any and all advice before I start to pick up things..I do not want to restore the table because I like the vintage character look but I do want it to play to the best of todays standards..Thank you and I look forward to hearing from someone..Thanks again

Here is a thread about the tables that are at Skip and Jan's in Phoenix. I rebuilt the old Diamonds that are the same as yours except for the ball returns. They can be brought back to life and have another 30 years of play on them.

The pocket sizes you mentioned are the correct sizes for Diamonds Pro cut pockets. Just check the angles so they are correct. The correct cushions for these tables are K55. Diamond sells neoprene facings as well as cushions direct and they are pretty good too.

Good luck on the table, and that is a nice find. You will get many years of play on that table.

John Burns is a very good table mechanic in Maryland. His AZ username is Scruffy1.

I am on Glenn Hancock list to get my GC redone when he gets to Maryland soon. He is a very good mechanic that travels all across the country. His username on this site is Real King Cobra.

My apologies, I only know of Johns work through Tim Scruggs, and he always spoke well of him. That is good enough for me.
 
So where did you find a Diamond table for 600 dollars?

That has got to be the deal of the year!

I won't be missing you this time...on my NY trip I guess I'm also going to be bringing with me a Riley 6'x12' snooker table going to Mass, which is just right above you...and on my way back to Diamond...via Virginia and West Virginia...LOL I never get to drive a straight line from A to B...:cool:

Good luck with that Riley. It is crated up nicely for you. You will get a kick out of that....a new use for the Diamond carts.

Ball returns

I have a couple of 11 year old Professionals that have the same ball returns. It's not a great system and I had to shim them in spots to make them work right. I lowered the end by the ball boxes to create more fall, and shimmed other areas to make more space so the balls wouldn't stick. It looks like yours do the same thing. With a little tweaking you can make them work ok. I don't think they offer this system on Professionals any more. Congrats on a great find!
