And perhaps chalk that adheres better will help compensate for a certain percentage of those bad stroke miscues. If the sweet spot (good term) is increased by a fraction then this will surely be the case.
Other than price is there any downside to better chalk?
Assuming it is actually chalk, and not some synthetic compound or glue or something

)), and does actually work better, there are a couple downsides, for me (perhaps not for everyone)....
When the hell
do I chalk my cue?
If I don't have a piece (if you really play pool this will happen), and I need to play well, I am going to be afraid of miscuing every shot.
The process of when to get rid of a piece of chalk will become much more perplexing.
People will tend to want to steal my chalk since it works so good.
I can't throw my chalk across the room anymore when I miss a ball.
More people will start wearing those very dorky, annoying things that attach a piece of chalk to their belt
When I leave it on the table during a match, i'll be that much more upset that I let my opponent put the good chalk oh his cue, ESPECIALLY knowing that now it is going to last on there the entire match
The types who approach with "Can I borrow 10 bucks, i'll give it back later today I swear" will be amplified by people that now say "dude, can I borrow your chalk, i'll give it back after my match"
Somebody might break into my car because I accidentally left the chalk visible on the center console
After my match, I can not say with as much authority and conviction that I miscued and lost because the chalk sucked.
After having a great day of pool, and winning the tournament, i'll be in a bad mood all night because i left my chalk sitting on the table.
When I have it, and my opponent doesn't, i'll have to listen to him rightfully tell me how lucky I got because I had the good chalk today.
I will wake up in cold sweats thinking that the only reason i'm a god player is my chalk.
I'll have to wait for my opponents run out to their car to get their good chalk
When the chalk becomes worn down, i'll feel the need to use it until it's a little nub, making the whole process of chalking very annoying
(Corallary of above) Cue repair men will offer the service of taking all your nubbed out chalks and making them into a nice, new cube with theor logo and phone number on the new chalk wrap
I could go on, but I do see your point.
