kamui equals dirty cue ball

Well im sure alot of u like the chalk , but my impression was it slows down chalk time and it is so thick that it leaves chalk on cue ball and it must be cleaned during play and here in Texas humidity is high so it kinda gums up on hand , maybe if it was 5 bux id buy a box but sorry kamui .....

A. You don't need as much chalk with Kamui chalk.

B. When I tried it I was on an island in a pool room with no air conditioning. My hand left moisture trails on the cloth. I noticed no such marks on the cue ball.

C. My Centennial cueball is filthy after being thoroughly cleaned one week ago. I use Masters chalk only at this moment.

D. Kamui has surely not allowed a product on the market that clearly disrupts the game. I feel that it may require some retraining so that some users understand that they don't need to cake it on as people tend to do with Masters and other similar standard chalk.

I have about 400 hours of pool on dvd (accustats). I have a remarkable memory for this type of stuff, and in all those hours, I think there are 3miscues (there could be one or two more). One is 88 Jay Swanson at sands trying to draw back, the other one is cj vs efren trying to draw, and then there is the efren (big) miscue against earl late in the hong kong match.

Good players just simply miscue very rarely. The vast majority of miscues are definitely caused by bad strokes.

And perhaps chalk that adheres better will help compensate for a certain percentage of those bad stroke miscues. If the sweet spot (good term) is increased by a fraction then this will surely be the case.

Other than price is there any downside to better chalk?

I am not trying to poke the bear. But I believe that Big Truck is defending Kamui chalk because they are one of his sponsors. Can't blame a guy for taking care of his lively hood. I for one can't judge the chalk because I will never spend $25.00 for it. I do buy blue diamond by the case an it works fine an will last for years. Skip

No you certainly can't blame some one for supporting their sponsors, but to make a point about any product you don't have to start off by calling everyone Nits that has a different opinion. I don't think even those who sponsor some one want the people they sponsor to be rude while speaking about their product that is bad for business.

That is certainly a good idea and it would most likely help with the mess it makes. Most likely that is why the chalk does make such a mess in the first place, because you can't use it like a normal chalk. In fact it would be easy to include a small instruction guide with each cube purchased even if it rasied the price.

Good Post

Personally, I'd like players to read some instruction about what not to do with regular old masters.... stop putting it upsaide down on the table! I can't go more than 10 minutes without my hands turning blue. Man does that tick me off. I watch people doing it intentionally.

ON a serious note, I was just watching CNN and it appears some one who read this thread last night got a little Kinky. Ten billiards supply stores across the country were broken into early this morning and all their chalk was raped!!!!!!!!:yikes::yikes:

But not to worry, they have collected DNA as evidence. They have also offered a $10,000 reward to anyone who can identify the assailants. They also urged all local Prostitutes to be on the look out for any John's with Blue Stains in the Pubic Area or on a customers Slong!!!!!!!!!!!:grin-devilish:

Take care and beware!!!!!!

I am with you, and trust me I feel your pain, me and my people have to clean up the mess left behind all the time. Thats why I don't put out hand powder in my room, I don't even want to think what some people would do with that.

Take care

Assuming it is actually chalk, and not some synthetic compound or glue or something (:)), and does actually work better, there are a couple downsides, for me (perhaps not for everyone)....

When the hell do I chalk my cue?

If I don't have a piece (if you really play pool this will happen), and I need to play well, I am going to be afraid of miscuing every shot.

The process of when to get rid of a piece of chalk will become much more perplexing.

People will tend to want to steal my chalk since it works so good.

I can't throw my chalk across the room anymore when I miss a ball.

More people will start wearing those very dorky, annoying things that attach a piece of chalk to their belt

When I leave it on the table during a match, i'll be that much more upset that I let my opponent put the good chalk oh his cue, ESPECIALLY knowing that now it is going to last on there the entire match

The types who approach with "Can I borrow 10 bucks, i'll give it back later today I swear" will be amplified by people that now say "dude, can I borrow your chalk, i'll give it back after my match"

Somebody might break into my car because I accidentally left the chalk visible on the center console

After my match, I can not say with as much authority and conviction that I miscued and lost because the chalk sucked.

After having a great day of pool, and winning the tournament, i'll be in a bad mood all night because i left my chalk sitting on the table.

When I have it, and my opponent doesn't, i'll have to listen to him rightfully tell me how lucky I got because I had the good chalk today.

I will wake up in cold sweats thinking that the only reason i'm a god player is my chalk.

I'll have to wait for my opponents run out to their car to get their good chalk

When the chalk becomes worn down, i'll feel the need to use it until it's a little nub, making the whole process of chalking very annoying

(Corallary of above) Cue repair men will offer the service of taking all your nubbed out chalks and making them into a nice, new cube with theor logo and phone number on the new chalk wrap

I could go on, but I do see your point. :)

Sounds like its not made for really humid areas. Maybe you should move...:)

We have the hand powder available, and while occasionally we have a little too much of it used, I find that happens away from the table far more than on/near the tables, at least in our room. (I carry a small container if I need some in any event.)

The blue on the rails is so annoying. I may start to bring a wet paper towel from the bathroom to wipe it down before I play, just to see what kind of reaction I get. :p

I'm about to start a show so this will be my only post here today.

1. No one called "everyone" nits that doesn't agree with me. I said it was nit central with people dogging a product they don't own, but would own if it was sold at the price they say. "if it was cheaper I would use it"

2. Kamui does support my show occasionally, That has nothing to do with my opinion. My opinion is from "using" the chalk.

Rude?

Wow, I guess it is Nit Central without you what else could it be!!!!!

It appears you are the rude one, with personal attacks because someone disagrees with you.

Have you even tried the chalk out? Do you know how to chalk properly?

~raping the chalk was a funny term that another AZer used and I thought it was funny too. It's the drilling a hole down the middle of the chalk by excessive nervous tick chalking.

Over use of ANY chalk is a nuisance. If you walk around with a piece of chalk in your hand because you need it all the time, your hands will be blue/green. Blue/Green hands also come from regular chalk mostly because people use too much and it explodes onto the cloth constantly. This doesn't happen with Kamui chalk.

Ray

I forgot my Pre Flag chalk in another case last night. On a couple of games I played with one chalking of regular Master chalk just to see what would happen. Thats on a Triangle tip and included draw shots. The rest of the games I might have chalked twice, maybe three times most.
Can't be all that bad eh?

I don't think anyone is disputing the fact that Kamui chalk does exactly what people are saying it does. Others, myself included are saying that we can't get our heads around the $25 price tag. I have bought all kinds of gadgets and doo dads for pool in the past, some are great, others duds. So, its not a matter of whether you can blow $25 on anything and not think twice about it. Its a drop in the bucket for most of us. Its a piece of chalk man. One piece does not equal a $25 price tag. I'd love to try it but won't until the price comes down to at least $10. For $25, I better be able to wipe some on my butt and make my roids feel better too.

Thats another thing to. I think part of the formula contains Preparation H cause it sure makes my butt pucker when I think about
paying 25 for one piece.

Thanks for update Ray, and again I never said that kamui Chalk was not good chalk, I never even complained about the price. To answer your question yes I have used and it certainly does work well, however, it is also makes a mess.

Now Ray I am not a chalk raper, the way I chalk my cue my piece of chalk stays flat and never gets a hole drilled in it's center. Also to answer your question, yes I teach my customers how to properly chalk their cue, but lets face it some do not care while others are not smart enough to learn.

As for my other comments I will stand by them, from your first post you have been a major driving negative force in this thread. In future if you want to support one of your sponsors that's cool, but remember being negative while do so also will put your sponsor in same light that you are in along with the product. It is funny how you can do 1000 things the right way, but when you make a single mistake or act rude to others that is what they will remember most about you!!!!

I have never made a negative comment to you or about you or your streams, but I must say I have a read a number of threads that involved you. This thread has taught me all I will ever need to know about you and for that I must say thank you.

Have a nice day Ray, and good luck with your live streams.

messy tables

Yes Craig, when the Kamui chalk is used and too much is applied to the tip,it does make a mess on the table. It seems it sticks to the cueball and in turn then prints a pattern all over the table.
But Kamui is not the only chalk to do this. Just use any colour chalk that is in contrast to the cloth colour and you will notice more contamination occurs on the cloth moreso than the cueball.Predominantly at the break line or where someone has over chalked and did not shake the excess chalk off the tip. If the table cloth was the same colour as the Kamui chalk, there will be less total visible chalk on the cloth,as less is required to be effective compared to other chalks, the total chalk in the cloth will be less as well.
The most difficult part of using Kamui chalk is actually trying to apply the very small amount that is actually needed.

Kamui chalking classes are being scheduled at all local billiard rooms. Please fill out your registration form and send along $100.00 money order. These classes are conducted on a BYOC (bring your own chalk) format.

Other optional classes will be held including, "How to put a two piece cue together".

These classes are "For serious players only".
