Finders Keepers...Losers Weepers

Do you think this is true?

A local player have recently found a cue that someone left during a tournament and he is planning to keep it or sell it. He would have to sell it to someone out of town or a pawn shop.

I don't think he should do something as stupid by selling it....it's expensive. I told him to keep it and play with it.

I won't mention the cue, so I can uphold my integrity because the founder, said he want it to be a private matter and he just adores how the cue shoots.

I love it as well but I just don't like the idea of buying this cue because it weighs 19.8 ounces. If it was 19 ounces I would buy it in a heartbeat.

What should he do?

Why is this even a question? You either notify the hall you were playing at that you have it and if anyone asks about it they come to you. Or you leave it with them. The pool hall I play at has a 3 month window if you leave your cue there and they don't know you. Keeping something that isn't yours without trying to find the owner is no different than stealing.

I agree with the above post. If I forgot my cue, I would hope that someone with good upbring would find it and do the right thing. We, you and your friend know what the right thing is.

At this point, the cue is stolen. How do you know that the owner didn't leave it where it was on purpose? That's right, you don't because you don't even know who the owner is.

Your friend needs to turn the cue into the pool hall's owners and forget it. It was never his to touch in the first place.

I'm sure this cannot possibly be a real question. People who steal stuff like this should die of cancer of the balls.....there is no way this isn't PocketPoint...

+2 (after justadub). When I see threads like this started, in order to stop shaking my head I have to keep reminding myself that AZBilliards is read by folks from all walks of life.

If you have even a shred of decency you give the cue back. Plus I doubt that a nit like you can tell the difference between a 19.0 and a 19.8 ounce cue.

I think your just posting this cause your bored and want to pick a fight with someone. To come on here and say you think it's alright to keep a cue that someone lost. Is about as low as you can get. But by your past posts it does not suprise me. It just shows what kind of person you are at heart.

^^What he said.^^

I may be a *****, but I would without question try to return it to it's owner. Someone worked real hard and saved their money to buy that.

Finders keeps, losers weepers? I haven't heard that phrase since 1st grade!

I highly doubt you'll last long here posting threads like that. Give the cue back to the room where you found it. Only a moron wouldn't know that.

The cue should never had left the poolroom. It should have been turned in to the counter. Anything else is theft. How would you or your friend feel if it was your cue?

Lost n found

I left mine on a table left the pool hall for an hour thinking it was already in my case. Imagine my reaction when i got home and found my case empty. I called the hall right away and was told that the waitress kept it on the side. Ran back to pick it up it was leaning on the wall close to the table where I last played. Thought I was the luckiest s.o.b. that day. Handed the waitress some cash her jaw dropped when I told her the price of the cue. The cue - Gina. The place - Toronto.

A real story, i was at the ATM machine back in 1982 at a Safeway store, put my card in punched a $100.00 got $500.00, i said wow! looked at my receipt it says $100.00, looked around no one saw what happened, thought about it got my grocery, then ultimately decided to give $400.00 back to the store manager, he thanked me and gone. Every time i tell the story people say you are stupid you should have kept the money!! should i have? or should i turn it in to the bank!
I one time forgot a spare cue i use once in a while, at (Champion Billiard) Billy Steven's runs the pool hall, i did not realized it until after after two weeks that it was missing, luckily Billy kept it in his office. Thanks Billy we will always love you.

i am just "dumbstruck" that this was ever a question. i've seen posts before on az regarding lost/stolen cues and the REAL owners hoping for it's return......you think it might be possible that it is in the hands of the real owner by the end of today? this post question reminds me of ....

Really? This really makes me re-think the saying that there are no stupid questions! There is obviously stupid questions and sometimes they're asked by stupid people!!

You two must not truly be pool players. No self-respecting pool player would even think of keeping someone elses equipment, because they wouldn't want that to happen to them.

Turn it in to the house and maybe (since your friend is obviously selfish), the owner will give you a small reward for doing so.

Maybe I am reading something the others are not.

Let's assume you weighed it to find out that it is actually 19.8 oz.
I am also going to give you the benefit of believing that you do not want to 'dog' on your buddy who 'retrieved' the cue.

Is this a thinly veiled plea to any AZ member who knows of a player who owns a 19.8 oz cue and inadvertantly left it at a room after a hit-up?
Are you hoping they find out where they can get their beloved cue back and follow up on this post?
