Equal Offense---high score??

Does anyone know the highest documented score in an Equal Offense game?

I'm talking about a 10 inning game with a max score of 200. A well known pro told me that no one has ever shot a 200....or even a 180.

I don't think it is played much these days, but there used to be internet leagues. Just wondering if any records exist. Thanks.

You can get to the Internet Equal Offense info, but it's tricky. You need to know that the info used to be on tourboard.com and then pull it off of archive.org. Here is the individual record:

Highest Individual:

Set April 22, 1995 by Don "The Preacher" Feeney with 176 points.
Don played on the Carlo's Billiard Academy Team from Chicago, Illinois.​

The same day that Don set the record, I was on 164 in the last rack and missed the 9th ball on a wide-open table. Oh, well.

Pool and Billiard Magazine used to organize some kind of national tournament, maybe in the middle 1980's? I think it lasted about a year. I don't recall the highest scratch score from that -- the actual competition was handicapped.

the most guys are playin *complete 10 innings* and play their runs til the end. That s also the way i do it. Just doin 10 *open breaks* or with *setup break with ball in hand*.

the best score i reached was 165 with equal-offense-rules. It sounds much easier than it is!

Thanks Bob,

Now I know that the guy I was playing some one pocket with yesterday was telling me the truth. I guess he should know. His name is Don Feeney. The Preacher is alive and doing very well at 83 years young....
 
I play equal offense all the time. I would be interested to see an equal offense challenge at a pro tournament to see how the top players score.
 
VillageSlim...I heard a rumor that Preacher had to move back to IL from where he had retired to in FL several years ago. Know anything about that? Please give Don my best wishes!

Is this the game where you break the balls open and run the first 10 balls just like straight pool - 1 point per ball and then the last 5 balls are worth 2 points but have to be shot in rotation for a total of 20 points for a perfect rack? If this is that game then they did do a challenge contest at the Super Billiards Expo around 1997-1998, I don't remember who won but Danny Barouty and Bob Maidhof were at the top of the list going into the last day if I recall correctly. I don't remember the scores they had but I remember that they were way above the amateurs.

No, that's Allen Hopkins' Q-skill test. A similar test is "Fargo" which allows the shooter to change to rotation at any time rather than just the last 5.
 
Just for the heck of it I recorded a set yesterday. I doubt anybody is bored enough to watch, but I think it totaled 124. At this stage of the game with a cataract that's about as good as I can do it.
