FYI, the controversy about "aiming systems" (CTE is only one of them) is:Core CTE (as it's taught by Hal) doesn't account for throw (shots that are all classified as thick/thin). CTE is a center-ball pocketing system; meaning, english is not part of the system.
However, you'll eventually get to the point with basic CTE where pivoting to center ball will make it impossible to pocket a "thin" shot (thin back-cuts, as an example). When this type of shot presents itself, one would either have to adjust his/her initial alignment or, as Hal used to do, pivot beyond center and impart outside english to counteract the collision induced throw.
So, it puts you into the pocket in a frictionless world. Same goes for banking. CTE is merely a baseline to figure in your many variables.
Hope this helps. As others have said, this topic is beat-up on this forum and most threads end in banishments, hard-feelings and cyber fist-fights. Maybe some others can give you good advice without others piling on. Good luck and best wishes-
Taking attendance......
Nope. Not yet. Still a few missing....
Now business is starting to pick up.
Still a few more who are obviously tardy...
(Thinks that if everyone could get over the necessity of using the term "exact", a reasonable and civil discussion could take place.

Nah......... on second thought, even that wouldn't work! :grin-devilish: )
Dub, I bet you never thought I'd stay out of a CTE thread. HA ! this is my very first entry for any CTE thread. I read them all, never said a peep, and that was pretty tough for me, that's for sure.
Going to see Stan Shuffett next month for a weekend. Maybe, and only maybe, I will finally get to join the fun and exciting cte threads !! Maybe even start a thread upon my return !! yikes.
From this statement, it's not clear if you are referring to back-hand english (BHE) or center-to-edge (CTE) aiming. Both involve a pivot. You can find lots of information and demonstrations for both techniques via the links.Do all players use this system ? I saw some vids on youtube on how to bank while shifting ure body and u can also use it to cut balls
Generally speaking, absolutely not (BHE or CTE)!is that how pros do it too?
FYI, the controversy about "aiming systems" (CTE is only one of them) is:
1. Aiming system users contend the systems give complete and exact instructions for how to aim shots precisely.
2. Non-users contend "aiming systems" only get you closer to the final aim, but do have some additional value as "pre-shot routines" that can make setting up for shots more consistent (which everybody agrees is valuable for good shooting, but an "aiming system" isn't needed to get it).

Madame Ouspenskaya is taking me to visit with Willie Mosconi and Ralph Greenleaf next weekend. My thread will top your thread.

This topic makes me laugh! I use CTE and I dare challenge anyone to a few different cut shots, using CTE vs., just banging the ball. Now, I adjust much like Stevie Moore, Matt Krah, and the MANY other pros that use parallel lines and CTE, or a variation there of it.
Just because you can't grasp the concept doesn’t mean it is outright wrong.
What you all fail to realize is your body and mind when in sync will recognize the adjustments, sometimes slight adjustments to make the ball. I will challenge anyone (on this forum) to cut shots up the rail 8 foot shots with a the CB center of the table and the OB 1/2 inch off the rail. Ill make this shot all day using CTE. But I don't pivot, I adjust.
I challenge you to these shots: The first one, put the green stripe in the corner, the second put the 6 in the corner behind the 9. Simple cut shots.
