Is there a rule about starting 11 different threads selling the same thing?

For the past few days, everytime I go to the WFS section there is at least two threads selling the exact same cue. The owner announces a "One hour sale" in a new thread, I'm assuming as a way to take it to the top of the section.

For some reason, it is getting on my nerves. I think all the threads are taking away from everyone else who starts a thread and only bumps it once a day. They are getting thrown down the list faster because one cue is for sale 5 times in the first few pages.

Just my little forum police rant. It is eating at me that someone would be that rude and I don't want to comment in his thread because that would be fighting rude with rude.

Don't know if there is a rule but the way to get a thread noticed by the mods is to make liberal use of the REPORT POST button. Moderators hate to be annoyed so by letting them know enough times that someone is being out of line they will usually crush the source.

I thought about that, but I was debating on if it was warranted. I have only ever reported two posts and those were harassing/defamatory in content. I don't think this member is hurting anyone or crossing the line of harassment, he is however being rude and disrespectful to other members who are selling.

The ones that are starting to annoy me are the cues that have 3 pages of bumps! If it didnt sell after the first page, it isnt going to sell!

At least, not at the price they're asking for it anyway ;)!!! If you've gotta bump it 10 or 15 times, lower the frikkin' price already:frown:!!!

Maybe it would be a good idea to be able to change the title of the thread 2 additional times (3 total) in the Wanted/For Sale thread to allow for a change of message for change of price/offer. This would minimize additional threads needed to be created, but would help the seller try to get things moving.

Just a thought. But I'm with you on so many multiple threads for the same stuff being annoying if you let it. But they have a right to make sure all that were interested in the cue should be able to see that the price has changed.

Just my thoughts,

Dave

More Rules?

Ya thats just what we need. More Rules!!!!! More Politics!!!
We are susposed to be a free Country but all there is is a bunch of rules. Cant do this, cant do that. Cant catch a fish if it is to small, cant race your car if you engine is to fast, cant play in the pool tournament if your speed is to high, cant use a phenolic tip, cant use a jump cue, cant ride a bike with out a helmet, I can go on and on here. Lets just add cant post multiple listings to the list!!!!

wow, good thing there is no rule about over reacting to a post that is just making conversation.

I see your point, but i think brandon just wanted to call attention to someone being rude, not call for any added rules to the forum.

I am with you all the way about un necessary rules; however some rules are very necessary.

Thanks for the help. I wasn't saying we should make a new rule, I was more referring to the spirit of respecting other's threads by not making 15 of your own.

Way to take something quite literally Barioni. For the record (my stance on your statement), rules/laws are made because some people are too ignorant to follow the spirit of what is trying to be accomplished. That and some people are just bad people who have to have consequences for their actions. I'm not talking about forum bs.

Bumping should, in and of itself, be a rules violation. I know these idiots will still selfishly say something lame to get their post to the top but some of them are so dumb, they will have a hard time doing that. Make'm work!

Speaking of bumping threads

remember the guy who was selling the lovely gold shark ring?
I think i remember counting 51 bumps to the top in that thread.

At least he didn't create multiple threads about his sale.

That's why I started with LOL

For what it's worth, I think you have a point regarding starting more than one thread when it comes to selling something. It's not like the seller doesn't know that a thread already exists about the subject (as what usually happens in the Main Forum).

Bumps are one thing, but I have to agree that more than one thread about the same item for sale is a little on the ridiculous side.........

You are right !! It is quite annoying. I don't mind a bump or two per day, but an entirely new thread ....geez.

Almost as annoying as the folks selling cues and then don't put the following;

Price
specs
type of wood
type of inlay
condition
age

Only if I was selling common sense. You're lucky though, I'm having a fire sale and for the next two hours, I'm giving away common sense for free!!! :)

Haha, well played sir.

I agree, just make one thread about what you're selling and you can make one bump a day.

It even bugs me when people have 3 cases for sale and make 3 different threads for them. Just make one thread and list all 3 cases in the title...

Yeah, that one individual has had fire sales for days. He doesnt seem to want to listen to logic. He even started a thread in the main forum wondering why this particular cue wouldn't sell. He is a little over the top.
