9/11.... memorial cue???

To everyone/cue makers:

Has anyone thought of or done a 9/11 cue with the Twin Towers?

I would like to see pics if there happens to be one in the works.

I am listening to the 09/11 show on TV and thought about it... I thought it would be a nice theme as long as it is tastefully done. The new building could be added or done on a sister cue.

Jacoby did one, TNS cues did one, and I know of one other. For some reason PFD is coming to mind but don't hold me to it. I'm sure there's more I don't know about.

OK, since this thread has bounced back onto the first page, I'm gonna edit this. Just a little sick of all the red rep I picked up from some sick AZers who don't get it.

If a cuemaker came out with a 9-11 memorial cue, this forum would fulminate with protests about crass commercialism. I might be among the naysayers. Now if I were playing in Amsterdam Billiards the morning the towers fell, yeah, I might want a cuemaker to make me a memorial cue. But for someone to market them for a profit? And just imagine if that cuemaker was Cuetech. We'd never hear the end of it.

Sorry, but the word "tasteless" is the best I can muster.

Here's the original post, in all it's anti-Americanism (or so I'm told):

How about we leave politics out of custom pool cues? Just askin'.

I think I recall Joe Porper making one - although I've not seen the cue or pictures.

I wouldn't call it politics when it's a memorial to the innocent victims who just went to work that day to make a living and the hundreds of police, rescue, and firefighters who went to save them but were killed.

This is how we pay tribute our heroes and mourn our tragedies.

keep'em coming

THanks to all the replies so far.

I was not trying to be political, I guess that is the nature of the subject.

I was actually referring to the sky line. I thought it would be nice to have some neat inlays of the buildings. Scrimshaw is great too.

Fine. Please explain what connection 9/11 had to pool. Otherwise, why not a 9/11 memorial bowling ball? Or fly rod? Or maybe a shotgun? Coffee mugs, maybe?

Respectfully, it seems to me that JoeyA's POW/MIA cue is rather well received, and is indeed a fine tribute. It's not a trivial matter, and it wasn't a trivial idea. It's something he uses on a regular basis and is a big part of his life, and he is using that method to show his support. (At least that is my guess as to the thought process involved...)

To me, the OP's suggestion is along a similar thought process. I don't see a problem. If he was suggesting a production line of said cues, that might be different.

I agree with you 9BallPaul, any tribute item that will keep those innocent civilians and the hundreds of police, rescue, and firefighters who went to save them and were killed, to remind us that freedom is not free.

Thankyou again 9BallPaul for the additional ideas on tribute items.

I give up. Have it your way. Fire up the lathes and let's go hog wild on 9/11 cues. Meantime I'm working on an idea for a 9/11 memorial bicycle.

9BallPaul, Everytime I read one of your posts I shake my head in disbelief. Are you really that ignorant in person?

So youre saying there shouldnt be a P.O.W. cue? Theres nothing about politics about a memorial cue. Its about paying tribute to all that lost their lives. Just sayin'

If the custom cue was auctioned for charity it would be a good thing for sure. But if you just put some burning building and a couple of sad firemen on there to make a quick buck on it thats not cool.

This is what I'm talking about. Why do you think pop artists come out with patriotic songs? It's naive to think it's anything other than money.

I think they are just trying to show their respect, Paul. Thats a good thing in my opinion.

I don't think politics had anything to do with it....... until you brought it up.

Well, I've posted a couple thousand times in the past 10 years, so that's a lot of head shaking. Don't hurt yourself.

Patriotism is one thing. I answered the call in '69 and chased Charlie through the jungle. So don't go shaking your jingoism in my direction.

Keep the red rep coming, boys and girls.

And im sure most of the people around here wished they had that moment of their life back for the time they wasted reading your toxic posts. Go hate somewhere else.
