I live in the DFW area of Texas, where are there tables set up like the
tables I see the pros playing on? I have played on a # of tables but
none were like the tables I see in videos,or hear described on AZ.
Thanks in advance,Jack

The snooker tables in the DFW area are 10' American snooker tables, and they'll likely have 2-1/8" ball sets. American snooker balls are numbered; standard snooker balls are not.

Most of the 12' tables in Texas are located near Houston:

You can start to develop a feel for the game on a 10' table, but it's quite different playing on a standard 12' table with the proper cloth and balls.

My suggestion: when/if you get the chance, spend a good chunk of a day (or even a weekend) at one of the spots in Houston, maybe Champion's. It can be rough adjusting to the small, rounded pockets of a snooker table, but over time you'll become accustomed to it.

Always call ahead, and reserve a table if possible.

Good luck!

Are the big tables set up with the right cloth - pockets - spot placements?
thanks,Jack

Hey Alpha!
Yeah, the two tables at champions are proper snooker tables with Strachan 6811 gold on it. Honestly though, the pockets are rather loose (wider) than what the pros play on, but for your first try on a 12 footer, that might be for the best.
They are still in the process of getting setup properly. Hopefully they get the carpet in soon and that third table they have been talking about, which would make tournaments go a lot faster.
But you only pay $3 for each frame you loose, so if you're pretty good you can play all night for free. Not sure how they charge for practice though...

The Big Tyme, Bogie's, and Caspers all have Simonis on it.

That is more like I'm talking about! I have played on a 6x12 before. It had
very tight pockets. I believe they were cut different then the ones I see
the pros play on. I am no great player, have played on many tables over
the years. Really would like to experiance the real deal. I have played on
tournament grade pool tables, with new polished tournament balls. I have
played on tournament grade billiard tables. Desire the Snooker experiance!
Thanks,Jack

My guess is that was a golf table.... Do you remember which club that was?
