One would think you could just google a state and find a list of pool champions, but there are little or no records to be found.
In the case of my home State of Pennsylvania, I know there have been many Champions over the years but researching who they are is very difficult to find those answers. Especially anything before the 1990's.

The following is a list of Champions that I have been able to uncover in Pennsylvania. But any known info from any State is welcome. Afterall, what and how many years did Cigar Tom win the Maryland State 9-Ball Championship? Who were the past New Jersey State 14.1 Champions? Etc.

Most of the States today have "open" tournaments, if any at all, but you're right. A list would sure be cool for recordation's sake.

I remember seeing Joe DiPietro compete in tournaments. He's a tough player and a nice guy.

This might be a very time consuming project. For example, there was no Maryland State tournament for several years. Josh Dickerson started the Virginia State 9-Ball Championship in 7 or 8 years ago, subject to check. I do wonder if, say, North Dakota, Vermont, or Kansas has State championships.

Thanks for the thread. It's given me a little food for thought.

State Champs

It would be cool to compile a list. Of course, I'm not thinking of Moose or Elks or Eagle State Champs.
Just the kind of tournaments that were designed, sanctioned or not, to crown a State Champ.

1998 - Pennsylvania 9-ball championships proves exciting and very competitive
The Pennsylvania open 9 ball championship was a very exciting event. Play was on Gold Crown II's with triple shimmed pockets and Simonis 860 cloth. Playing conditions where tough to say the least. The event was held May 29, 30 & 31 at host site Tacony/Palmyra Billiards. The contest had it's share of participants not from the mid-Atlantic area but local players had a great showing. The finals featured "Neptune Joe" Frady and pro tour player George "Ginky" San Souci, with Frady winning it all. South Jersey player Jose Garcia finished 3rd with Steve Olsen and local players Scott Haas and Joe Korsiak tied for 5th. Many of the top 15 finishers play on the Tim Scruggs Power 9 ball tour, so check out the tournament section and go watch these guys play, they give quite a show.

It would be nice if recorded somewhere

I do not even know where to start to find Kansas's records, if any, other than just googling.

I did win the BCA state championship in 2003, and my team also took 1st place.
