That nit air barreled me and stuck me with the time. In my time, a Nit was a person who had the money on him but would only bet when he was a shoe-in to win. A predator so to speak, a Nit would not play someone equal or better than they. Air barrel means he did not pay or did not have the money on him. We used to call that "Ghosting." I am guessing the Nit played, lost, and skipped out without paying or did not have the money to pay and the opponent had to pay the table fees.

The way we use it, a nit is someone who calls everyone out but won't bet a nickel.
