I'm not trying to jinks Rodney but he's been playing pretty good. I think this is his year. Plus he definitely is one of the nice guys out there that is really good for the game.

I see Mika is in his brackett. He's going to have to get past Rodney and that's going to be pretty tough. It won't be a walk in the park for Rodney either. But I think Rodney will come through.

I'm picking Rodney Morris to win it all.:dance:

Just my opinion. GO ROCKET..............:dance::dance:

Isn't Nick Varner also in that same bracket? I don't think we can count him out. He may be old, but he still PLAYS!

Roger

I hope he wins too. Having won it in 1996, in dominating fashion I might add, gives him an edge I think. He knows he's done it so there's no monkey on his back, as opposed to say Bustamante, Feijein, Alcano, Orcullo, etc. all great players but haven't won it before.

After watching him dismantle everyone he faced in the Chuck Markulis tournament, I really like his chances.

He just needs to take care of business and do all the right things that keep him right while at a tournament and he should be all right.
He definitely plays smart and he's not missing hardly at all.

There's alot of reasons to like him here!

Nobody that is there should be underestimated !

dont under estimate his next opponent, Phil Burford.

Hi there Lee,

Anyone that came there to play in this great tourny should not be taken lightly. The hardest part though is to not let the moment swallow you up.

I don't know Phil but to me that is the biggest challenge in any huge event like this. keep your focus the same all the time. Even when you play a big name player.

Many of these players play good enough to beat alot of these champions but they just lose focus. The only time you can practice keeping your focus in a big tourny like this is when your there. Kind of on the job training.

I wish your friend good luck. I hope everyone wins this thing.

I just like Rodneys odds with his game as I see it right now. If Phil beats him he'll have to plat great.....

Rodney will not win because he makes bad decisions under pressure and he is a weak defensive player. But I agree he is a nice guy, whatever good that does him.

Everyone makes bad decisions at times. You may mistake his quickness for weakness. You don't get to be in the winners circle like he does by being weak. Being a nice guy means a lot to a lot of people no matter who you are.

Weak!!

This guy can play..., I agree that he seems to loose with the cue at times and he likes the run out more than the saftey, but with his FIRE POWER, way not..., and you cant argue with the rusult, nobody is playing better right now..., go Rodney!!

Maybe I just hold it against Rodney that he does not play in many big international events overseas. Other than SVB no American player really does. Rodney likes to call himself the best player in the world but how would he know? Go win a big tournament in Asia or even Europe against the worlds pool of talent before making bombastic claims. As great as SVB is and as often as he plays, he still has not won in Asia. Rodney has played well in smaller events lately but how long has it been since he won a really big tournament?

Rodney is a stone cold Player. He got maloha on the outside, but he is one of the World's elite on the inside, a top 10 favorite for the Open for sure. Every year.

i really like rodney also......but i saw this phil buford kid play last weekend at the white diamonds tourny.....the kid can play but RODNEY HAS SOME BIG GUNS.......

Lee, tell us more about this Phil.

S.G.

Hi Sunny,

Phil is a former European junior finalist, he also won a pro cup on the uk gb9 tour last year. Hs girlfriend is Stan Shuffet's daughter and he now lives with them in America. So with Stan helping him and his great talent he is 1 for the future. He is also a real nice kid. Very tough game, as we all know how much talent Rodney has, but if he lets slip, Phil will take advantage.

Hope you and Mark are doing well.

I hope your right Lee. I've got my tournament money on Phil. He isn't as seasoned as some in the tourney, but that kid can flat out play.

hey Brandon, for Phil to win a pro cup, against Appleton, Melling, Gray, Peach, Boyes etc proves his class.

If you knew anything about him, you would know he probably cannot get a passport or visas.
