Well, I must report that I have not seen or heard anything noteworthy.

Since it is still early and a lot of the big guns are still in the tourney they won't be doing anything until later, I don't know.

I was there Sun and Mon nights and there wasn't much to report.

Sun night / Mon morning
I saw SVB give some teenager the 8 or the last 2 for $50/set and SVB quit after two sets. Clearly just a warm-up session for him. Don't know the kid.

Amar Kang came in later and was trying to get anyone to bet $10,000, but he was admittedly drunk.

I left shortly thereafter.

Mon night / Tue morning
John Morra / Kevin Bailey matched up in 1P, then switched to 9B. They were still playing when I left.

Keith Bennett played Tom D'Alfonso 10B. I think it was a race to 21 for $2,000. They were also playing when I left. Not sure of the outcome.

SVB spent a few hours playing 9B with a buddy of mine for funsies. Another practice session. Needless to say, watching SVB practice is entertaining and educational.

Now...allegedly, SVB is supposed to be locking horns with Lee Van Corteza tonight since they both have Wednesday matches...so that is something to look forward to!

Will post what I know.

As mentioned in previous posts, since I do not have money invested in these matches, and since I do not know the players on a personal level, I just post what I hear, or what people choose to tell me when I am at Q-Masters at the time. So, I apologize if any of this is inaccurate.

Feel free to provide more info, corrections.

I do this for the poor slobs that could not make it down here this year...:)

Thanks for the report. I hope you don't get slammed and called names for sharing snippets of action happenings on this forum. I appreciate it a lot, since I ain't there.

On a good note, maybe the U.S. Open competitors are taking the tournament seriously and not staying up all night gambling at Q-Masters. That is one way you can look at it. :p

I'm sure as the week progresses and players get knocked out of the tournament, the action will get heavier.

Thanks again for the update. I, for one, appreciate it!

I know it is early, but still good stuff...hope you can keep it comin.

If anyone wants to slam me and call names for my updates, let them go right ahead.

My pic is in my avatar, I am on FB and I stand behind my words.

In my opinion, people should recognize that playing pool in today's Internet-driven world is NOT private.

If they want to gamble in secret then go to each other's basements and tell no one about it.

They wanna gamble at Q-Masters for everyone to see, and they really do want their play and their winnings to be discussed...they know it happens, so complaining about it would be hypocritical, in my opinion.

Will keep providing info to the forums if properly motivated, which changes from moment to moment...:)

And I agree with you 100 percent, my friend! ;)

pool grapevine says Bennett also played Kiamco some ten ball getting weight and beat him.

Thanks!

Cool stuff, dont know if I will make it this year, so keep the nes coming..., anybody that doesnt like it should play in a closed setting.

P.S. Are there many vendors set up this years selling cues?

Thanks for the updates. Sorry I can't be there this year. Are they still closing off the back room at Q-Masters? You have full access as a spectator?

In all the years you have been alive, how have you not figured out how to just brush things off? So someone attacks you for something... oh darn. Get over it. Life is too short to always be bottling things up and then bringing them up whenever it seems convenient. If the world is against you, then let it be... you don't have to be against the world.

The usual crop of vendors are here. A buddy of mine commented that he could not find a Predator jump cue, which I thought was strange at the Open.

I might buy another 1P video, might even learn something this time...:)

They're closing off the back room? I saw a sign on the door but I did not read it. I think it is directed to the regulars who want to rent tables in the back room this week, not sure. I am a spectator every year and have never had a problem hanging (and sleeping) back there.

Those bleachers are very uncomfortable...but I love it...:)

Please don't make this thread meander into something confrontational...:)

I think JAM was just hoping no one got in my face for "spilling the beans", as it were. I think she was just being nice and expressing her appreciation...you agree?

No need to attack Jennie here. She wasn't being snippy in the least and furthermore she has a LIFETIME free pass to say whatever she wants in these tournament report threads. JAM's reports are legendary and forever archived here.

I got your back Jennie! Big Tony ease up brother. Where's my new episode??? Has Big Tony's quest for US Open Glory turned into a multi-year Odyssey? :-)

English, keep up the reports. You are doing great. Please let us know which players get mad at each other and for what. :p j/k. We love the action reports.

I didn't read Jennie's post as Cleary read it. Maybe it was just a misunderstanding of what she was saying.

Anyway, this is a GREAT thread, let's stay on track.

What happened to those two nits, SVB and Lee Van?:D:D:D

Hmm, where's my morning action update? Must have been busy last night as our man on the scene, Curtis, hasn't posted yet! ;)

Thanks for the words on this thread directed at me, the good and not so good.

There is joy in life every day. When you get older, you deal with time, constant time, and it becomes more acute, that preciousness of time. Don't look for the bad company in life; look for the good company of people, people who tell the truth and people who do good things.
