Donny should have stayed off of AZB. I was thinking that maybe the little barkfest here might get to him.
If I was playing at the Open as a pro then I'd probably forget AZB existed for that week.

Come on Donny, take the ribbing. You did post that you would go back in time and give Luther Lassiter, Don Willis, Harold Worst, Ronnie Allen, Mosconi, and all the great champions of back then weight and rob them.
We all know that tournaments and gambling sessions are very different. But still you have to kind of fade the heat a little bit when the old guard snags a set from you since you did beat up on them a bit.
Stan does gamble a little bit so if you do end up playing him and giving him the last four you can win at least $1000 of my money as I will pay to see what happens. I like underdogs.
I was enjoying the colloquy yesterday about the old school versus the new kids on the block, but I'm not anymore. It's turned to sour grapes, and it's not a pleasant read anymore. What a shame!

I guess this is why good players dont post here, it seems that certain people cant wait to take a shot at someone when they are down. Donny came on here and gave his opinion that he would beat certain players, there is no way to prove it so its just his opinion. I will say that I know Donny has told me he has 100's of accustats of the older players and he has studied every single one several times, so if he thinks he could beat those players based on what he has observed then that is his educated opinion, not just someone spouting off.

And this has merit of course. Who can ever truly be world class without thinking that they can beat every other person who is living and has lived. I know if I go into a game thinking I can't beat the guy then I give away a bunch of games before we tee off.
Lassiter famously said that he used to watch guys play and if the guy missed more than a ball in an hour then Lassiter said he could beat the guy.
You're right about Donny having a right to his opinion. And if he has studied hundreds of Accu-Stats tapes then it is an educated opinion. But other people here have also studied plenty of matches including Donnie's and they also are entitled to their opinions based on their observations.
This freaking game has very few rewards and accolades outside the die hard fans. The one thing we bangers have to hold on to is the accomplishments our pool heroes have achieved. So when someone makes a statement that he would be able to give weight to and rob those proven champions it's a bit offensive. Especially if it's coming from someone who has not yet achieved a fraction of what any of them did.
I mean if SVB said the same thing then his opinion carries more weight since he is now a proven champion, both in gambling matches and in tournaments. Johnny Archer's opinion carries weight because he is a proven champion. Donny plays JAM UP but he has not yet earned the titles to put him in the elite class that he is saying he could beat easily.
That's a bit like me claiming I could beat you or Donny because I saw a couple videos. What would you tell me to do if I said that?

Absolutely true. Look at how many great players have come and went on AZ. The Internet is a dangerous weapon that, it seems, a lot of people aren't equipped to handle.
