In addition to attending this year's U.S. Open 9 Ball Championships I was able to attend the roast for former event champs like Nick Varner, Allen Hopkins, etc. But the highlight of my week was to be a part of my good friend Danny D's induction ceremony into the 2011 BCA Hall of Fame along with Ralf Souquet.

The event was celebrated with a table of former inductees including Earl Strickland, Nick Varner, Allen Hopkins, Johnny Archer and Pat Fleming along with Rodney Morris, Charlie Williams, Thorsten Hohmann and Mika Immonen.

They had some short video presentations for each of the inductees including a lenghty tribute to Danny DiLiberto from no other than Angelo Dundee. Dundee stated that Diliberto or Kid Toriani as he went by back then, could of been the best fighter in the world if he didn't have glass hands...that's quite a statement coming from a guy like Dundee who's trained some of the best fighters in the world. Ralf Souquet had a touching tribute from his brother and parents in Germany who could not be with him for the ceremony, he was visibly moved.

All in all it was a very well put together tribute to two great players of our times. Danny D. for him winning titles spanning most pocket billiard games over 4 decades and Ralf as only the 2nd European player and 7th foreign player to be inducted into the BCA Hall of Fame.

The U.S. Open took a 2 hour break from matches to allow players to attend this event and pay tributes to two of the greats in the game. I have complete video and photo coverage of the event in case anyone is interested in seeing anything.

Once again hats off to Danny D and Ralf S on their truely deserved induction into this year's BCA Hall of Fame. ;)

It was one of the best HOF ceremonies I've been to, especially with the two videos. It had a pretty good turnout, too. I got to see all of the presentations, but I missed the warm part of the dinner because of the great match between Appleton and Klatt that didn't finish until about 6PM.

I heard that Danny was asked "In your prime, could you have beaten Souquet?" The word is that Danny's priceless reply was: "Definitely. After all, when I was in my prime, Ralf was only about three years old!"
