I wonder if any of you like to see a "CUE DEALER SITE ONLY" Idea for this is for AZB cue dealers have there own site and listing by alphabetical order. In that way they don't have the competition with individual in Wanted / For Sale section for "BUMP"!! there sale to 2nd or 3rd page.

P.s. Just an idea. Please give this thread a vote "RATE THREAD" on the right top corner next to search this thread.

Prefer sites.
I also prefer to go directly to a specific cue maker when organized by names.

Great idea Kenny. My only questions is... What is the qualification to be considered a cue dealer?

I'll take it one step further and guarantee that cues, cases, ect will end up co-mingling between the 2 forums. Doubt it will take less than 24 hours from the time the new "dealer" forum is activated. Unless there are some hard definitions on what and what does not constitute an actual "dealer" sale or a personal sale by someone who also happens to fit the definition of "dealer" how can the transaction be declared one or the other?
I'm saying that there will absolutely be abuses of the two forums by both dealers and personal sellers without firm, defined rules that are actually enforced.

Why not have a listing of dealer websites all contained within one post and have it as a sticky? The dealer can simply state something like: check my new site for new listings.
 
I agree, just a list of dealers with links and/or phone numbers.
Any separation between dealers and non-dealers selling items is asking for headaches .. JMO.
As to the amount of listings, in the W/FS, maybe it's time to put a limit on the number of items/posts offered by any one member, at any one time. You can only have xxx listings until something sells...etc.

I'm at a loss here....maybe I'm not seeing what is trying to be accomplished.

Not speaking for others, but sometimes we'll run a cue or case on here at a blowout price.....maybe something we got in on trade or bought out a collection. It won't even make it to our site. The idea is to offer it here to fellow AZers first for a great price. You guys might recall I did that last fall with a couple of unplayed South Wests & old Schons. Would non-dealers not want a chance to see something like this first in their section?

With respect to defining 'dealer'.....what is the difference between a guy that routinely has 20-30 cues advertised on here (all the time) and won't pony up a little cash to help the site and become a club member vs. an actual dealer that may list a cue or case every once in a while? Not every dealer lists everything they've got on here. Maybe the dealer wants his stuff seen by the masses first ??

What about 'competition' is trying to be addressed here? Isn't competition supposed to be a good thing?

Part of what has made this place awesome in the past is that it's been a centrally located "classified listing" type of place. The real reason the for sale section seems to be struggling right now is a few things. Sure, there's some abuse of the rules (and lack of common courtesy) here and there and a few scammers/thiefs from time to time......but the real problem is that nothing much is selling. The market is terrible right now and seems couldn't be more flooded, everything seems overpriced, etc. That's really what's making this place hard to navigate and enjoy lately.

Just my opinion of course....flame away.. :smile:
 
Good ideas but AZ still need to implement them and I don't think they will have the time or resources to develop them. It's hard enough for them to try and keep this site stabilized let alone add enhancement at their expense.

I'm sure a lot of the dealer wouldn't mind paying a premium to have storefront on AZ where they will be able to list all their inventory but I don't imagine that would work out to well if all the traffic is still at the wanted/for sales area. Since most of the traffic is in this area, if a dealer has to pay a premium, I would think they want their listing on the Front of this page more than someone who didn't pay a premium.

The only thing I would suggest are:

1) Adding more required fields in each of the posting such Price Range, Cue builder name, For Sales or Wanted, Type of cues, etc and enhanced the search function so that you can customized your own view of this section.

2) Give the poster an option to close the Thread if the item is sold so that it won't bump up old the thread. So once a thread is close, you can bump and chat on it without having it affect active listing.

3) Similar to subscribing to a thread, user should be able to subscriber to a member, so that if something is posted by them it will automatically alert you.

4) Have different listing views as an option to member. Member can look at the thread the traditional way (works for me) or a view that just show when the item is created with no bumps affects. Another list view would be sorted by date it was created.

So the users can bump all they want but their listing would be only listed in order of created date. Good for people who like to see new listing that might be 5 pages back.

I am with you on this one. Many guys who are not "dealers" post in excess of a lot of cues, cases, etc...

You might as well keep the segregation going by making cue/case maker for sale sections as well...

But what WOULD help right away would be separation of cases, cues, memorabilia, books, clothing, etc...

It is AZ why can't we leave it alone? Everyone want's to make rules or do it like craigs List or like so and so...Why don't you start your own SITE and do what you want with it or GO TO Craigs List if this is what you like. This is AZ if you don't like it why not just go somewhere else? Just sayin leave it alone we have enough rules and they have a rep system turn Ace jack ass Red and no one will open his threads and he will go away! Wow and aren't you breaking one of the rules now as NOTHING is FOR SALE here in this thread, or have YOU changed this rule without telling us???

Cue Dealer Listings

I've used AZ extensively over the last six months and there's merit to having cue dealers separately identified ....BUT...still included on AZ's wanted to buy/sell section. Cue dealers should be able to list anyhting they want to sell on the general forum....they may want to sell something on a special discounted price or have acue that's really rare and unusual to announce just became available etc.

Why not just have a category for dealer listings which can be clicked on and it lists all the registered dealer websites . A forum member can search every dealer's inventory using the dealer section instead of having to seacrh vias the Internet trying to locate cue dealers and checking what might be available.

I think it would be more useful to segregate the sold items in an section called "Items Sold" which would shrink the current available listings and make using the forum more fruitful. If you wanted to check on what cues have been selling for, and we all know that this has been a crazy cue market for several years. By checking what other similar cues have sold for, both buyers and sellers have a basis for more meaningful dialogue on the cue purchase. Many buyers expect ciues to be sold dirt cheap and well, sellers always think their cues should fetch nothing but top dollar. By having a sold items section, both the buyer and seller can point to specific examples which either support or undermine their respective positions and let's face it...facts are facts...what cues have actrually sold for is really meaningful, conclusive proof instead of emotional arguments over a cue's value or selling price.

But the forum needs to keep dealers listings inlcuded with all the listings...just remove the sold items and consolidate into a sold section and have a dealer section that lists every dealer's website with a link for persuing their inventory. Anyway, that my take on the subject at hand and I estimate that I have logged over 350 hours on AZ forum over the last six months looking for that special cue.......in that span of time I've spent $4,000 buying two cues...a 70's Joss West and an '06 Tim Scruggs. I'm not done buying cues but my search efforts would have been simplified if there was a listing of all the dealer websites and a closed items section which would have help confirm or even validate a cue seller's requested asking price or suppported the underlying basis for a cue buyers' submission of a lower price.

That's my two cents on this topic......and by the way, the forum was the reason I got both cues at what I consider were excellent prices for two gorgeous collector cues.
