Using a 1x2 Case without Pockets

I am on a less is more kick and have recently decided to break with my playing cue and carry a 1x2 case that has no pockets (Ron Thomas signature series embossed croc). I don’t like the looks of pockets on a 1x2 case.

I want to carry an extra piece of chalk, tip pick, piece of leather and a small bottle of Visine. Not much but too much for my pockets since they are full with keys and phone.

Does anyone know of a case maker or leather craftsman that makes small leather belt pouches that are designed for this purpose? I want something like a small camera case but made at least wide enough for a piece of chalk and the items I mentioned above.

Not really what you are looking for, but I have an alternative solution:

Sell the case you have; then, call Ron and have him make you a case with an accessory cup in the lid.

I took this very advise a few years ago and love this case.

Matcase (on this site) made a case for me that is a 1x2 with no pockets, but has a leather holder on the strap. It is a great case when I just want my playing cue. The little holder has enough room for tip pick, chalk, burnisher, etc... The case was modeled after the one Paul Newman used in The Hustler.
 
research pacifier cases from babiesrus.com or a babiesrus store. basically is a small pouch, maybe 4 inches in diameter that can hold keys, joint protectors, chalk and can be strapped to a belt loop

I have one, its too long. sent it back to ROn to make me a lid without the compartment

There are plenty of people here www.leatherworker.net who can make this for you.

Also you already mentioned a camera case which would work. As well there are wearable mp3 player cases that you can buy. And of course glasses cases should also work.

I have a small bag that I carry my stuff in when I use my 1x2 GTF. I just put it inside the lid and it's fine. Most people don't know this but you can use these cases with the joint pin down and tips up and that will give you a little more room at the top.
 
Look for a medical glove holder or medical glove pouch on the net. Perfect size to hold what those things.

Since the visine is a must have, are you sure all that's filling your pockets is your keys and phone? :D
 
I have one of these that I use for my chalk. I am sure Gil with Castillo leather goods could make one a chalk width notch longer so you could put in a piece of chalk, tip pik, small visine and put the piece of leather flat in your pocket.

I use to carry a piece of burnishing leather, chalk, strip of Magic Eraser, small strip of sandpaper, glove, and a Willard dime shaped tip tool in my Guiseppe 1x1. I bought a GTF 1x2, which I really like, and had the same problem because of no pocket. After considerable thought, I decided that the only thing I really had to carry in my case was a glove (and that fit into the GTF cover nicely). I carry a piece of chalk in my pocket (it may fit in the GTF cover also but I prefer my pocket), which I use when I play. If needed, I touch up my cue tip and shaft before I leave home. All the other stuff was just baggage. That was about six months ago and it's working great for me. Try lightening the load and just carry chalk and eyedrops in your pocket - that's probably all you use when you're playing anyway.

Thanks for the advice, but with me it is the opposite. Over the years, I have owned many 2x4 and larger cases. I currently have a Whitten 2x4 that I got six years ago. I still love this case.

But... as I become a better and better player I find I need less and less. I don't want to carry around a bunch of cues and crap that are not necessary. Just give me one non fancy cue, an extra shaft and 1x2case. Anyone else get to this point with their game?

Yep....did it for a long time. Still have an old 1x2 that I will never part with, just for when the mood strikes.
