When you jump, will there be any damage on table?

If so, how to fix?
Change tablecloth or do the stone table / slate damage as well?

always wondered about that

The slate should be able to take the punishment but I've always doubted that beeswax, bondo, and other fillers and levelers can take the same pounding from jump and masse shots and remain totally unharmed.

Apart from slightly compressing the cloth, if done correctly, there is no damage!

No more damage than a jacked up draw shot. Which is to say more than zero, but certainly less than a hard break.

Ok, no problem then.

Just need more practice now.

BTW
Got my new Predator Air, and that`s why you see..... :D

Not true at all,,,,forcing the ball into the cloth at that angle will certainly cut the fibers of the cloth. We have 6 almost new Diamond pro-ams at my hall, all the same age, all setup the same day, and all with new Simonis,,,,the "one" table in the center of the room that usually has a nineball game going on it already has at least a dozen little frayed holes showing thru the simonis. Granted that every jump shot may not cut the cloth, but some certainly do. The only difference in this one particular table is that it gets alot more nine ball play than any other table in the room.

I know it is within the rules to jump,,,,but I don't think it should be. If I don't know the rails well enough to make a good hit on a ball then I should take the BIH penalty when I miss.

Don't miss cue...I did the other night,an was upset..just recovered my table an now I have a small hole,dimple...darn air bridge. Jerked my stroke,an paid for it. I've practiced alot an never hurt the slate.I hope, I made some one smile with this post.

Damage on a heavily played nine ball table is not unusual and all of it cannot be attributed to jump shots. There are plenty of miscues. Hard breaks with balls jumping. people being careless. Most people do not jump correctly. It doesn't have to be hit hard at all. But it does have to be hit correctly. I cannot jump any longer because I cannot raise my arms above my head without extreme pain. I can kick like a mule though.

Unless you really mangle a shot and tear the cloth, or hammer the same spot over and over....the only damage you should see are burn marks in the cloth.

More damage

I have a friend who thinks allowing a flipped quarter to land on his 860 Simonis causes small tears in the cloth that eventually open up and become visible. I must say the location of the tears on his felt have a high correlation to where the coin lands. Anyone else have this thought?

Shooting Arts. You an IPSC participant?

If it is only damage / burn marks in the cloth, I can just buy new / change table cloth.
But if stone take damage, it is not that easy and then much more expensive.

Yeah the quarter will do the damage. Never thought of it until it was pointed out to me recently.

I can't run and gun. I have shot PPC and steel. Built a few pistols for the IPSC boys too. Haven't been shooting lately but I'm getting the itch pretty bad. Originally ShootingArts was for the pistols, then benchrest, then photography, then when I started playing pool again it still fit. Never knew the name would be so versatile!

It leaves those white friction spots. Same as around the rack from popping the cue up on the break. When I jump I alway put my little break cloth under the cue. Helps.

Yes I will get a little cloth under the cue when I break & make jumps(for training :-) )
