Louisiana's best pool player.

Hi Joey:

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say here. Why would I cover points I didn't want to make? ;)

No he hasn't -- on both accounts. It's true that I've personally never seen Geno disrespect any member of the forum, but it's also true that Geno is NOT the perfect poster in this forum either. If he has, he wouldn't have received the numerous warnings that I know for a fact he received about breaking (and continuing to test) the established forum rules. That's not the definition of a "perfect poster." Unless, of course, that was your opportunistic method of squeezing the word "perfect" in there, as if you were trying to extend Geno's sales pitch (i.e. that "birds of a feather" thing). By your definition, you would consider me a perfect gentleman if, while in your house for dinner, I was always respectful, even though I'm going around to all your family members and trying to sell each one of them a vacuum cleaner because "every home owner needs this, and it's obvious to me your home needs it."

I'm glad you didn't include me in the "naysayers" camp; which illustrates to me that you at least understand the difference between the naysayers (i.e. folks that say Geno's product is worthless) vs. Geno's marketing methods of ill repute. Like I said, I think Geno's product is good, and fills a missing gap in pool instruction.

"Allowances have to be made" -- are you serious? So you're saying that rules against advertising commercial products on a public forum should not be even-handed to all members, but instead are "negotiable" depending on a product's "worth"? So, who is to say what the threshold of a "product's worth" should be, in order that the rules be bypassed for the advertising of just that product? Who's the judge of this? You, Joey? And, you don't think that removing the even-handedness of the rules would make it a free-for-all -- i.e. every Tom, Dick, Harry, and Geno will all be stating their product is "needed by all pool players and therefore should be allowed to be advertised"?

As for Geno's "unique perspective" to the forums and making them better, that's very debatable. For one thing, Geno hasn't offered any "perspective." He hasn't shared any information to the forums, but instead he siphons readers from it -- much like Dr. Dave does when Dr. Dave, rather than answering the question with the appropriate information inserted directly into the post reply, he instead profusely inserts links in his post replies to redirect readers away from AZBilliards, to his website. For another thing, I'll bet my hat that Geno's angered just as many readers as he'd benefited -- if not more. This is especially so up until recently, when Geno's spamming in threads (especially those that had nothing to do with aiming) died down a lot. I'll give Geno credit on that account -- his ruthless spamming did die down recently.

"We interrupt your scheduled thread reading to bring you this advertisement." Ah yes, "birds of a feather flock together." I hope you get an agent's fee, Joey. ;)

In summary, I don't (and have never) wished Geno harm. I know he's a great guy. But "great guyedness" does not buy him a free pass to spam forums -- no matter how good his product is. Joe Tucker's products are some of the BEST there is, and I dare say, have benefited just as many -- if not more -- pool players than Geno's product. But you don't see Joe spamming the forums, right? The popularity of his products is very high without all the spamming.

Sean--- The ONLY thing (just about) that Geno has pasted the forum with is free phone lessons. Do you think that's a bad thing?

Dave:

That statement is not entirely true. His advertising behavior changed only recently. Like I mentioned, Geno's spamming did die down recently -- the timing of which seemed to coincide with the change in his policy to offer the phone lessons for free -- but even he states that's only for a limited time. (Methinks the timing of that -- the start of the offer for free phone lessons -- was the same time Geno unfortunately sustained the injury from the mobile home, but I'm not sure.) In any case, prior to the free phone lessons, Geno only offered those lessons as an adjunct to the purchase of the DVD. And during that time, I'm sure you remember Geno was over the top in spamming threads with infomercials about the perfect aim product.

Do I think his offer for free phone lessons is a bad thing? No. Do I think the tactic is the well-known sales tactic of "loss leader"? Yes, I do.

Hope that helps clarify,
-Sean

Joey,

I read your post, and have read previous posts by you about the products you have tried. I like your enthusiasm and honest approach to new things. I had spoken to Geno a while back but our conversation was cut short (I had to go), so I didn't finish with the phone lesson. So last night, which watching the stream of the Ocean State 9 Ball tourney in Providence, RI (way to go Shorty!!), I saw your post and it inspired me to call Geno again.

I did, and it was great. I spent about 1 hour with him on the phone. I was really surprised by how helpful the things he taught were. I have not had time to really test everything out, but my initial impressions are that Geno is on to something that could be EXTREMELY helpful to many players. What Geno teaches is remarkably simple. There is no crazy system to learn, nothing that will change the way you do things...except how you see the shots. He shows how to get your eyes in the right spot to see the shot effectively. All I can say is it works. I feel compelled to post a separate review, and will do so after I've put the info to the test.

Thanks Joey for the kick in the butt, and thanks Geno for the great info. I look forward to checking out your DVD.

Hey Joey

I usually liked what you posted on here. I'm much surprised that your responses to some of the posts on here seem somewhat childish like your throwing a tantrum. you made your point and you wont leave it alone. Like you have to get the last word in. Chill out and leave it alone. your making yourself look bad. Your the only person on here that I recognize so I'm not singling you out cause I don't like you. I'm singling you out because your being childish. Sorry dude, your way out in left field on this one.

Are you referring to some other thread? Otherwise, having read this entire thread, I have no idea what you are talking about.

Could you refer to a particular post?

Thanks,

Just another testimonial from ANOTHER UNPAID AZB member that Geno's informatin is SOLID GOLD.
You're welcome for the kick in the butt. :D

I think Geno should run for PRESIDENT OF AZ BILLIARDS. :p

If this keeps up Geno could become the most popular poster in AZB history. (just behind SmorgassBored)

Oh I figured he was indeed referring to Joey A, I just can't figure out what he is referring *to*. I didn't see Joey do any of the things this poster was complaining about. Just curious if he was referencing another thread or something...

Joey your integrity is impeccable and its best to rise above people, don't lower your self, your far better than that.

I have been learning to do that for the last 3 years with my coaching techniques. The cream rises to the top.

As in most things in life, it's ALWAYS ABOUT WHOSE OX IS GETTING GORED.

It's no big deal. Everyone is entitled to their perspective. All they have to do is keep their remarks civil and it is all good.

AZB ROCKS!

I wish I could call but I'm in a different country and 14 hours ahead of the east coast.

I'm not sure if you and Gene have SKYPE but that would be an economical way to talk. All each of you need is a headset that plugs into your usb port on your computer and download the free program. If you're near a pool table that's a big plus and almost a necessity. I think you can download SKYPE to your Iphone if I am not mistaken.

And Gene looks like he can't sleep most of the night anyway so you might still be able to hook up. See if you can download skype for your Iphone and then check with Gene which is the best time to contact him.

So the gist of the thread can be summarized as follows:

Another top notch player stands up to testify that a method/system of aiming that is not Ghost Ball improved his game.

People don't like for the forum to be spammed with "ads" even if the product is great.

More like

"Joey uses a reference from a top player from Louisiana as an excuse to make a rant about how him and Gene are victims of unfair treatment, even though the gripe people have with him and Gene has nothing to do with the actual aiming system itself, but how they are presented on the forum and how the people that push those systems act.

Other posters confirm that their main gripe with Joey and Gene is not actually with aiming systems, but how they are presented and how their supporters act, but Joey refuses to listen and actually tries to play down and defend the offenses which are clearly not only annoying and redundant, but also against forum rules, for which said offender has been warned by the proper authorities".

This is correct, and sums it up nicely, albeit pointedly. Not once were the phrases "aiming system," "system of aiming," or "method of aiming" used in the responses to the OP, much less "ghost ball." I have no idea why John brought those terms or phrases into the discussion, but it itself is an example of the very situation that Masayoshi brings up in his first paragraph -- and that is not being able to let it go.

And this thing with "People don't like for the forum to be spammed with 'ads' even if the product is great" -- is that supposed to be a negative? What's with this idea of a "threshold" of "product goodness" before the forum is allowed to be spammed with ads? It's come up from Joey, and now from John. I think this is where a lot of the divisiveness occurs relative to the marketing of these products. Rules are rules. Nobody's above the rules -- again, no matter how good the product is.

Like everyone else, I'm an advocate of certain products (including some of yours, John). But you don't see me coming onto the forums spamming them with ads, nor spamming the forum with gripes/whines/complaints of how my favorite products are the victim of unfair treatment because the rules won't "make an exception" for my product and allow ads for it to be spammed onto the forums.

For the last time, it's the delivery of the product's message, not the product itself, that's annoying, redundant, and against the rules.

Talk about overreacting. I don't like to see the forum spammed either even if the product is great. The takeaway I have is that a great player improved using some sighting method that is not GB and he is playing better. Lets just distill this down to the important info ok?

John:

I'm not overreacting, but I do want your "distillation" to be correct. Nobody likes their message being massaged into something else, because of e.g. some agenda. Why do you keep bringing "ghost ball" into this? Geno's product is a head/eye alignment system, not an aiming system. It can be used with whatever aiming system you prefer -- whether that be pivot-based aiming systems (CTE, Pro-1, et al.), CP-to-CP, back-of-ball, ghost ball, or whatever.

Phrases such as "aiming system," "ghost ball," etc. have nothing to do with this thread, and, IMHO, shouldn't be "distilled" into your summary.

I know you are very adamant about people understanding your message. May you please return the favor?
-Sean

Since this is advertising, it appears to me that this testimonial marketing thread clearly belongs in the "For Sale" forum.

You may not be interested in knowing how professional players aim but there's a very large group of people on this forum who are interested in knowing how top pool players aim. The link is there for those who are interested in knowing more about Perfect Aim.

Go troll somewhere else.
