Back in the day Shane was a monster when it came to practice. I used to go in the basement of Lucky's in Sioux Falls, sit in the dark and just watch him run racks for hours. It was pretty cool because you could just tell you were watching something special in the making. 8-12 hours a day of practicing his break and just running balls wasn't unusual.
These days his travel schedule is simply brutal so he doesn't put in the hours he used to but I would say he probably hits as many if not more balls in practice than most top players. Look around at the next big tournament and you will see a few guys hitting balls between matches or after the days play. Shane is usually one of those guys. He still loves pool and wants to win. He knows to do that he has to work harder than the next guy. Shane gets it.
