Lately a lot of people have been changing from leather back to Irish linen.
Did the standard change somewhere along the way, or is the new channel standard for leather .030X2= .060?????????

Hi Mike,

I've installed linen over the leather just for that reason and it actually feel very good. My friend Don Broos was probably the first person to do this in Canada and he did this on one of my high end cue and I was really surprised how good it feels. If the client don't mind, that might help save some epoxy.

Why not just use two linen?
I don't get it.
If the leather was already flush, adding linen would have made the section too fat.

Hi Joey,

Leather was taken down and linen wrapped on top so that it flushed on the cue. The leather kind of form a cushion for the linen and once pressed feel kind of nice. It's definitely feel better to me than if the linen was on the handle only.

I haven't been changing many that direction here in Georgia. But as a Leather buyer, I can tell you leather a little thicker than .024" is easier to come by normally. So I guess people are just cutting the groove size to fit the leather they find.

Most of the leather I use is between .020 and .024. I have thicker in stock but only use it as a very last resort. If I have to choose the thicker, I make sure to inform the customer.

I didn't weigh the cue after but I believe it would be a tiny bit heavier.

Hi,

After final pass I cut my string wrap groove step at .018 per side after sanding before sealing, epoxy and finish. If leather is a little thicker I adjust the elevation after the cue is finished.
