Hello, I have a friend from the pool hall in his early 70's that has an old Brunswick cue. He said his father baught it for him in the 50's. Can anyone tell me anything about it and maybe it's value? The pictures are not great cause all I had was a cell phone to take pics with. There is a signature on the front as well as the but. I cant remember the name but I will find out. I think it was Willie Hoppe. Also I think the wrap may have been added. It looks like it may be leather.
Thanks for any help. Dave.

Yup....it's a Willie Hoppe model. The wrap looks original, but it is possible it was replaced.

Typically they sell for a few hundred bucks. It all depends on the condition, the age, and the wood really. Hard to tell from your pics but it looks in decent shape from what I can see.

They sell regularly on Ebay, the range is anywhere from about $180 for a crooked one that needs work to upwards of $500 for really nice examples. Typical range is more like in the $250-$350 range.

With original shipping tube, documentation like sales receipts, other historic provenance, and/or pristine original Brunswick case......well, such examples can attract some surprising prices as the collectors really generally want pristine examples if they can get them.

I don't generally comment on values and I wouldn't pretend to be able to appraise a cue. I have been wrong too many times. I am confident in what I stated above though so I hope the range gives you what you needed or at least an idea.

Send member Mr Hoppe a pm... He's the man on these old Titlists/Pros. Yours looks like it could be Brazilian Rosewood, which is a BIG plus.
Best of luck!

Please add some better photo's of the Brunswick decal and the wood in the butt and the points. But, it appears to be Rosewood which during this time frame came from Brazil. The Ivory ring in the cues butt says that the cue was made in the 1940's, however, to Verify whether it was early or late a good photo of the decal is needed. Brazilian Rosewood and Ebony are the most sought after woods used in these cues, with Ebony being the rarest.

The cue is a Brunswick Titlist Cue, the cues value depends upon if it straight and it over all condition. If it is straight and sold to a collector the value would be much higher than if it is warped and used for a conversion. If the cue is in collectible condition it would be worth $500 plus, if not it would be worth less.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info guys. I will try and get better pics. I do know the cue rolls straight and hits solid. He actualy shot a couple games with it. I told him thats not a good idea, but he actualy won a couple.

That would be great.

A good pic of the decal would help. Some of the differences are subtle.

Also, a good pic of the butt wood to ID that would help.

And of course......we all want to see those lovely veneers.... :)

If the cue is sound, it's not going to hurt it by playing with it. That's what it was made for :D I love seeing an old cue like this still in action.
