As the years go by I see all the angles on how players manipulate the Calcutta. Most are ethical and have a stock market approach. However, I am tired of seeing pure dumps and sometimes extortion. We aren't in a large town so commonly we have the same players reaching the finals. The best players in our region are the top offenders. Outside of banning players from the Calcutta is there any set of rules that could be applied. We can't sell our top players because they dump and deal their way into money at the expense of the bidders. On a side note we don't reach our full potential since folks won't bid proper amounts on top players. I ain't crying. Just wondering if there is a real fix. Thanks

You just ban them, I would. You will always have the next level of top players and the bidders will bid on them.

I agree, ban their asses. I hate it when players make a deal to lock up an axtra $40 and cost me $250. Screw these cheaters, regardless if they are the top players or not.

I had a player that I bought at a good price and he made it to the finals, well he played his buddy. The guy he rode with and had agreed to split everything with, not to my knowledge until after the event.

My player knowingly dumped to his partner, you would not believe some of the straight in balls he missed, well by doing this they figured the other player who would be in the hot seat would wait and be guaranteed 1st and my player would play the winner of the consolation bracket and then go on to play for REAL in the finals.

Well the underdog beat my guy so I got 3rd place money. Then the underdog went on to double dip his partner and he only got 2nd place money. $1000 for 1st and $400 for 2nd. Top heavy. The auction money was more.

I found out about the FIX after my player dumped, I figured I got screwed out of hundreds of dollars, the difference between 3rd and 2nd auction money. I did.

This shit happens all the time.

That is why I say Good Luck:(:(:(
 
If players want to split we make them split the tournament money and play for the calcutta. This keeps everyone happy although this isn't a fullproof method. We've also created sidepots prior to the drawings in a few tournaments instead of a calcutta. Everyone who was interested could put in a twenty spot to own themselves. If they won they got the side pot as well as the tourny cash.

Just ban Swope from the calcutta, pool room, and town. The farther he is from your place, the better off you will be.

He can't do that, Swope's sort of a partner of his.
They're putting on a tournament together March 3rd and 4th.
 
Do something like ban them for a couple of tourneys on first offense. Then maybe a few months on second and lastly for life if they can't learn the lesson.
