Once I saw a player break on a barbox, glance the head ball, bounce the cueball off the next table, and into the cueball return on the table beyond that.

Another one, a player was going to slice the 8 in the side pocket and make the 9 in the corner in one shot... missed the 8 completely, goes 4 rails and makes the shot as planned.

Also watched a player make 6 balls on a 9-ball break with the 9 still on the table with an easy 3 ball run, and didn't get out.

Got any good ones?

I have the honor of one of the best 8 ball breaks on a barbox I have ever heard of even on here with the many threads about it, I once made 9 balls on the break with 2 more hanging in the pocket, easy out, and DIDN'T get out. Whats worse, the shot I made, was dead straight lol. As far as one of the best shots I have ever seen came from Mike Hellmer (who just lost 7 3 to louis Ulrich at the btc) He was playing 9 ball on a big table and his opponet left him just barely off the rail on the left hand side 1st diamond with the cb and his object ball past the middle pocket about the 2nd diamond on the long rail and 1st diamond on the right hand side of the other short rail (basically a long almost straight shot) he couldnt bank it because of a ball in the way and only had a window of about a ball and a half for his next shot so he jacked up put some throw on it and drew the cue ball straight back and hit the window perfect while making the shot. It may not sound like much reading it, but if you were to see it, it was pretty beautiful.
 
Yes, this is from a couple years ago. Only time I have seen it. Broke a 8ball rack. Ball jumps onto rail and is spinning like crazy until it came to a stop. It wasn't balanced between the wood and rail. It was on the actual rail. My guess is the spinning caused it to create a small indentation. I have shared this pic a couple times before so I apologize if you have seen it already.

I once handed my opponent the cue ball at the Western BCA 8 ball team event after scratching on the break. By the time I walked over to my chair and turned around he was shooting the balls on the wrong table. They really have those bar boxes packed in there. There was no game going on on that table at the instant so we decided to just carry on. I couldn't see arguing as to whether that was a foul or not after being provided with that memory. Both teams had a really good laugh.
 
I dont have a shot really but a funny incident.

A guy I was gambling with was down about a thousand and it was hill hill. Only 8 and nine were left and he was behind the nine. He takes out jump cue and proceeds to jump the cue ball off the table. He was so mad he picks up the chalk and throws it towards the opposite end of the table. Well he hit the rail perfect and the cube comes back and nails him in the face.

I was laughing so hard I could barely make my ball in hand.

When I was in college, was playing a guy who had just missed his shot, left me a pretty straight nearly full table length shot. Well he's walking away from me, along the same side of the table as the pocket I'm shooting at. I didn't take much thought on the shot, hit it hard, object ends up hitting the tit of the pocket, flies off the table straight towards him. Ends up hitting him square in the nuts.

Have had a couple of interesting breaks over the years. Had one where the cue ball went in the air after the break, catch the side rail, and then procede to hit 4 other rails without ever touching the table, lands back on the table, doesn't hit a single ball, scratches in the side pocket. Playing in a tournament a couple weeks ago, watch my friend break, see the cue ball go into the side pocket, about a second later the cue ball comes back out, he proceeded to break and run. Was the match winning game too.

Last week had what could referred to as a simple shot, near the rail, but was perfectly angled for getting a leave, just needed to move the cue ball 3 rails. Well in the process of trying for the leave I give it a little to much juice, the cue ball contacts the rail, and without a single bounce the cue ball is now on top of the rail, and due to the spin behind it, it goes 2+ diamonds on top of the rail for a scratch.

Yeah, on Valley Bar Boxes, I can get the cueball to sit perfectly on the seam of the rail and the wood. I used to do it all the time, if people weren't paying attention to me, and I scratched, I would set it there, and go sit down.. I get so sick of playing drunk people who have developed a case of the "Talk to anyone who comes in my path, instead of shoot pool" syndrome.

Btw, yours is much more unique.. because it is resting on the cushion it seems, but thats pretty darn sweet.
 
I once saw a guy go to break on a bar box, nail it super hard, and jump the cue ball off the table where it flew past the rack and over another table and hit a guy sitting on a bar stool square in the nuts.

He fell off the bar stool and was in agony rolling on the ground. No surprise, the ball flew something like 15+ feet before hitting him.

And yes, I must admit, I laughed. :)
 
Something I did and will most likely never do again. This was back some 25 years ago before I knew of a 2nd ball break and the 8 on the break was a win. I was playing a guy $5 a game, breaking pretty much head on, and snapped the 8 in three games in a row. The 4th game I broke and the 8 teetered on the corner but didn't drop. I've made two in row maybe twice since and have played a LOT of pool.
 
I made this shot ,,for a loss the other night. Opponent had a very weak break and I tried to run out. I ended up with this,, as a shot,, on my last ball,,the 14.

Was trying to carom it off the 8 in the corner,with a massee around the 4 ball. Or at least get a hit on the 14.

I don't know how to draw a curved line on table,,,so the line should go up and around the 4,,,,,cue was spinning and just missed the 14 ,,touched the 8 and spun it into the corner. It's impossible,,I say!!

This was during league play and there was 4 people watching this. Everyone agreed that this was a impossible shot. And absolutely amazed it went.
There was very little room to even hit the eight . Amazing!!! I lost!!!

i saw a guy break 9 ball and make 7 balls and was hooked. True story


Also, when I was a young teenage punk we used to try to jump the cue ball up in the air and break the table light. Once I did this and flew the cue ball about 25 feet and hit an unsuspecting lady square between the eyes. Knocked her clean out. I felt real bad and learned my lesson.

Here's one for the books!!!

15-20 years ago after a tournament ,,me and a friend had a few beers and started playing that hook game where you get a stuffed animal out of the machine.
We had many of them.(beers and animals) Well,,,I had my cue stick in its case,,a cloth case with a zipper at the end!!!

He started throwing animals at me ,,so I started swinging my cue case,with stick in it,,at them.

3 or 4th one I was swinging hard,,,and heard stuff breaking across the bar. Glasses from a table of 3 sitting across the room,,2 pictures off the wall.

There was not many people in the place,,but everyone was looking around trying to figure out what was happening,,,including us!!!

Found out the zipper on my case was open,,,and the butt end of my stick came out like a bullet. I swear it could have killed someone,,,it cleared the beers and glasses off a table with 3 people sitting around it. How it didn't hit them,,IDK???

It cost me some cash after that. Bar tender was cool about it,,not happy,,but???
Bought everyone beers,,,paid for the pictures,,,not cheap!!! And picked the pieces of my rare Hubler butt up,,,form all over the bar.

And I felt lucky that no one was hurt.

OMG that is pretty funny. I can only imagine what people were thinking.
 
yesterday I saw the stupidest shot of my life... it was on a barbox, the cue ball frozen to the left long rail about 1 diamond from the corner pocket. My opponent's OB was less than half a diamond's diagonal distance from the CB towards the other corner. The blind side cut wasn't on, so he basically had to shoot the OB across the short rail. However, the space he had to shoot in just wasn't enough... I knew he'd jump the CB off the table so I got ready to get up and take BIH.

He makes the shot at warp speed and sure enough the CB comes off the table spinning and smashes into the same short rail that he shot across... it jumps backwards and literally (I mean, quite literally) comes curling over the dude's head (he was still low down on his follow through), crashes into the top of the left long rail, then hops onto the bed of the table and eventually settles against the opposite short rail. Fair hit, and the guy nearly had his head taken off! If I didn't know better, I'd say it hit something/somebody and then came back to the table but the dude had his head down the entire time and missed the epic CB reaction LOL

When I was 1st learning to break hard at 9 ball, I broke, hit the rack, cue jumped off the table, hit and destroyed the red "EXIT" sign above the door about 10 feet away, and stayed inside of the sign housing. Thankfully I was gambling with the guy running the counter at the time and the owner wasn't around.
 
About 20 years ago right when i started playing there a a kid named Ted at Hustlers poolroom in South Florida. Ted used to break from the end rail and during his warm up stroke he would pull the cuestick back through his bridge hand so his hand would lose contat with the cuestick for a millisecond during every practice break stroke. Well one time the numb nuts tries to break them as hard as he can. Wel he pulled the stick and as he came flying forward the stick missed sliding back through his bridge hand, the tip hits the back of the table as he is coming through. The stick flies up full speed hits him dead in the mouth and busted both lips wide open. He had to go to the hospital and get stitches all in his lips. LMFAO funniest shit i have ever seen in a poolroom to this day
 
I've seen plenty of "weird" shots, but one of the weirdest I actually did myself was in a 14-1 tournament in 1990. My opponent and I were playing for the last spot that would send the winner to another tournament in the UK, with expenses paid.

We were playing a game to 100 and he was up on me 99 to 97. I screwed up the break shot selection and had to settle for a break ball that would be behind the rack when the balls were reracked. The cue ball and the break ball were both behind the rack and the shot was straight in and there was "no way" to break the rack (or so I thought). I had already decided (rightly or wrongly, since it had been a LONG, LONG game) that I wasn't going to cinch the ball and then play a safety battle.

I decided that I would try to cheat the pocket and use a half-masse to "throw" the cueball into the back of the rack, in the hope of breaking them up a bit. Even if the balls would have broken out, there would have been a very low percentage chance of getting an open shot, but I had already made up my mind.

I lifted my cue up and hit down on the cueball with the maximum of right English I could put on it and cheated the pocket to the extreme left. In my attempt to "throw" the cueball with the half-masse it actually made it do a half-jump in the process. The cueball struck the object ball (#98) perfectly and it went in, but the cueball jumped up in the air, about a foot or so, and to the right and landed square on the top of the rack in the middle and sat on top of the 14 balls for a several seconds.

My opponent and I stared at the rack for several seconds and I was wondering WTF do we do now (like, "how do you shoot a ball when the cueball is sitting on top of the rack?). Before I could figure out what the rule would be on this shot, the weight of the cueball slowly forced the balls to part and the cueball came back down to the cloth in the center of the rack. In doing so, it pushed the balls far enough apart that I had a ball straight in the corner pocket and it pushed another ball out so that I would have perfect position in the opposite corner.

I made the balls (#99 & 100) and got out and my opponent couldn't believe what had happened. Everyone came over to congratulate me and I had numerous people asking me to show them how to make that kind of shot. I told them that I couldn't be showing off my secrets and got a good laugh out of it. My opponent wasn't in quite the same spirits, because that shot kept him from the UK tournament.

When I was learning to play- but on the fast improve schedule- there was a guy who came in occasionally. I had lost to him a couple of times, but had his #...by the time heretofore recounted:

I knew I had him on his last barrel. IShot the 7 an left meself with 0 angle to get to 9, so I did a shoot/ stop, but left one of those funny bank angles that you need to consult the gospool to make...

I kicked the 9, instead of banking it, and it went straight across table.

He was playing with a house cue an d he broke it, then proceeded to grab anothe off the wall and broke that one over his knee. He went for a third on too, but the people in the room started hollering for him to get the f-out, which he did.

IIRC, I never did get paid for that game.

I seen one of the best pool players alive break and make 7 balls on the break, had an easy open shot, with an easy open table, and NOT get out, in fact he hooked himself his very first shot. It was Alex Pagulayan and Fransico Bustamante.
